That I have an end game in the Ghost Ship story.

Ply me with enough booze, throw a hard enough deadline at me... and, yeah.

I'm not sure yet, but I'm going to follow this down the rabbit hole and see where I end up. I don't think there's any way I wrap it in 500 words, but...

We'll see.

I don't think I'm going to hit my deadline, but, like I said. We'll see.

And, there's no way I'm going to catch up with LJ. I'm two days behind as it is and we're not going to be home until Saturday at the earliest. I'm too damb busy trying to stick an END at the bottom of this thing. Sorry?

A title for the Ghost Ship story. I shall count this as Progress.

Send Endgame, plz. Deadline's in a week and we're going out of town on Saturday.

ARGH.

agilebrit: (Well shit.)
And that's as far as I'm going to take "talk like a pirate day."

I'm three thousand words into a story with a five-thousand-word goal.

I don't have an endgame yet.

My deadline is in eleven days.

I hate my brain.

in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers...

  • The new Invincible Iron Man comic
  • A copy of Empire Magazine, with RDJ on the cover as Sherlock Holmes, looking beat to hell
  • A copy of "Dragons and Dwarves" by S. Andrew Swann, a pair of novels in which there's a portal opened in Cleveland (yes, my first thought was "Hellmouth," why do you ask?) that lets fantasy creatures from another dimension into ours.

And the main reason I picked up "Dragons and Dwarves"? Because it's an urban fantasy with a first-person male narrator. Don't get me wrong, I love Sookie and Kitty, but Harry's getting lonely, y'know?

Also, I've scribbled another thousand words in the Ghost Ship fic, moved my plot forward, and finally introduced my ghosts--or a couple of them, at any rate. And they're arguing with each other.

This is going to be fun. GOD, I love this series.

I've shipped the BeeFic off to a couple of markets--one for podcasting, another is an anthology contest. Because it's high time I started circulating reprints again.

And I've managed to scribble more in the Ghost Ship Story. I've moved my plot forward, scared the crap out of my crew, and then creeped them out on top of that. Also, if the authorities find them with the cargo they have, they're screwed, because I realized that having them get paid cash rather than leaving an electronic trail for the Feds to follow would make their lives much more complicated. Because I'm evil.

    You know... What if...

Hm. Will have to ponder that. You no can haz. *writes down in little Iron Man notebook*

Anyway. I've cracked 2000 words. Yay.

I still have no idea how it ends.

The lovely and effulgent [livejournal.com profile] vr_trakowski has written an Iron Man/Wall-E mashup, and you need to go read it right now.

In other news, I've figured out a couple of things about my stowaway. Life is about to get interesting for my romantically-involved characters...

What is it with me writing triangles these days? I AM NOT A ROMANCE WRITER, DAMMIT.

Also, I have a headache. And thus I'm grumpy. But at least there's NASCAR tonight. And thus I get to make Wif Burritos. OMNOMNOM.

Okay, look, Flaubert. We've got nineteen days to write this story and beat it into some semblance of readability. I know you're over there partying with Antubis, whooping it up with the absinthe and the chocolate-covered ants, but I'd really like it if you'd get off your fuzzy butt and help me with this.

Come on! Ghosts! A stowaway! Ghosts working at cross-purposes! It'll be fun!

I've pushed past the wreckage. Ben and Ange are pretending everything's normal. Whatever that actually means in this situation. It's a good thing the next scene is the one where he does the thing that puts him back on the table. I'm not sure how long I could sustain this breakdown he's having. Especially since it's been ongoing for...quite some time. He thinks. This is the first actual hallucination he's had, but he doesn't know that. Poor guy.

And I have Transition for the Ghost Ship story, which was giving me fits yesterday. SO. Progress. Yay.

In other news, I watched "Charlie Bartlett" last night with my new DVD thingy on my computer. I may inflict that one on the Hubby; I had a mixed reaction to it. And, somehow, I need to figure out how to configure my VLC player so that it's the default player for DVDs...

And I'm already leaving "Oh, god, fix this" notes to myself in it.

*repeats mantra* It's a first draft, it's allowed to suck. It's a first draft, it's allowed to suck. And since this is me, it's more of a "vague outline." But I digress.

Hopefully, this thing will practically write itself--I'd like to be able to give it to my Writing Buddy on Saturday. And since it's another one starring my intrepid spaceship crew, at least I know the characters, so I'm not going to be flailing around inventing them. The ghosts are another matter, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

HOWEVER. I did enough extra work today that tomorrow is a day off. I have a 40% off coupon for Borders, which I will probably invest in a John Joseph Adams anthology (either the vampire one or the apocalypse one, not sure which). And then I will sit in their coffee shop with a coffee milkshake and a pastry and write. The change of scenery will do me good.

In other news, I'm pretty sure I saw a vole when mowing my lawn today. It was cute, and as long as it stays outside, I'm fine with it. Also, I forgot to eat today, and now it's too late.
