That JLA fic? She took it down. We'll have to see if she posts again, or if I've crushed her little writer spirit. I hope not; that wasn't my intention, and I really tried to keep the snark to a minimum. Still nothing in my inbox by way of reply.

ETA: And it's back. Still one big block o' text...but now it's double-spaced! I don't know whether to throw my hands up in the air and give up, or just flat-out offer to beta it for her. The problem is, her "plot" sucks so badly that I don't think I could save it...and it's not my fandom anyway. She incorporated the question mark I told her about, and she fixed the "hays," but she obviously has no idea how to format it so it's halfway readable.

She's trying, dammit.

In other news, I'm reading "The Warrior's Apprentice" by Lois McMaster Bujold, and enjoying it tremendously. It's well-written and the characters are drawn very realistically.

Da Boy is in bed; the Hubby is off at work until late tomorrow night. I should write. Especially since I have the info I need on the bees.

*cracks knuckles and whip* Okay, fuzzy-butts. Let's go.

Really? So what happens to a decapitated bee?

It dies almost immediately. This is handy for my characters. :)

Not that I'm going to let them get off THAT easily. *evil laughter*

I adore Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan series. I love, love Miles. What a unique, empathetic character. If you've just started reading the Vorkosigan series, you have so much to look forward to.

After her science fiction series, Bujold veered into fantasy with the Chalion series. I could eat her writing with a spoon, it is so delectable. I especially like the second in the series, "Paladin of Souls," but, of course, the first of the series is necessary to understand the characters fully. The third in the trilogy wasn't up to the first two books, and I saw Bujold veering once again, only from fantasy to romance.

I don't like Bujold's latest writings which have lost the lyrical beauty of her fantasy writings or her sharp wit of the science fiction works. I'm willing to admit that I'm not a fan of romance, so it may just be me, but I feel her latest works are far beneath her abilities. It's as though she is trying to appeal to the masses instead of writing for a select few, and she has lost so much in the attempt.

Isn't it odd how authors seem to just LOSE it over time? I can name several authors who used to be awesome, but are now considered to be merely "okay" or even "awful" (yes, Anne Rice, I'm looking at you, and your little dog Laurel K Hamilton, too). I guess it's hard to keep it fresh when you've written so much, especially so much in the same 'verse.

I hope my prose never goes stale. *cringe*

I love the Vorkosigan books. I think my favorite is Barrayar. I love watching Cordelia stumble her way through Barrayaran society.
