Remember my last post about American Idol? I believe I insulted every moose learning bagpipes on the planet. Many apologies.

In other news, the FluffyThon fic is actually continuing apace. Scribbled over 600 words last night, and got the scene written I really wanted to write. I'm up to nearly 2000 words on the thing so far. I don't really have a plot, per se, but I have character development, so that's a Yay, I guess. And I signed up for the [livejournal.com profile] cya_ficathon. Because I'm on crack.

[livejournal.com profile] nodrogg pointed me at this site. Thirty-six pages of the stupidest humans on the planet, from the POV of Emergency Room attendants. Be afraid, be very afraid. But it's hours of cheap entertainment.

And now I bring....ICONS! Many icontests this week, one of which I actually garnered a Mod's Choice for at [livejournal.com profile] wash_icontest. *preens* Three I made for [livejournal.com profile] bogwitch's birthday. Several alternates for [livejournal.com profile] jayne_stills.

*grins* They were SO fun to do. What's weird is that it's the OTHER Wash icon (with the white background) that got the Mod's Choice. I like the first one better, myownself. Ah well. I'm often surprised at what wins icontests.

Interesting, that you caught that in it's... ah, rough draft. It was only visible for maybe ten minutes before submerging again for needed repairs.

Well, I'm online pretty much all day, with multiple windows open, and I refresh my flist about every ten minutes, especially when I'm bored. Dance, flist, DANCE!

LOL. That ER link is hilarious.. I work in a downtown hospital, and I've heard variations on these themes over the years. One of my favourite stories is the patient I had who had jumped off of every bridge in the city at some time or other. One Sunday he jumped off the Burrard bridge at 4 p.m. on a Sunday, barely missed a boat going under the bridge, and hardly had time to get wet. We decided that next time he should try a higher bridge.
. If you own a horse named thunder, flash, psycho, or reaper, do not get within 20 feet, and don't even think of just taking them for a quick ride. Hee. I am so going to keep this in mind!

*snerk* Dude, if (general) you is trying to commit suicide, then jumping into the water might not be the way to go... It was really amazing to me how people would cut their own throats, shoot themselves multiple times in the head, etc--and fail to die.

I know suicide is not a laughing matter, but sometimes you just gotta shake your head. My other favourite ICU story involves the first time I worked in ICU: I was a general float, came into ICU to help out on a super busy shift. I was in a room with an ICU nurse, and 3 patients. Two of them were drug ODs. I left the room to get something, and one of the idiots managed to grab a bottle of pills someone,(and no,not me!) had left on his chart. He took another overdose. The Resident was totally pissed at him, and not terribly gentle with the stomach lavaging...
I felt bad for not seeing the pills, but they still let me come back and work there for 25 years or so.

Hello,

I'm not sure if you are aware of this but a few of us are doing a Firefly fanfiction and fanvid awards called the The Blue Sun Fandom Awards, aka The Strawberries, and I wanted to let you know that the following have been nominated:
-Black Market Beagles for
humor/parody category
http://www.livejournal.com/community/ff_fanfic/93373.html and
-Virtuoso for
Canon romance
http://www.livejournal.com/community/ff_fanfic/94805.html

Let us know if you would mind letting your story participate and if you agree with these category assignments or would prefer to have your stories in a different category. Also, stories are eligible to compete only in two different categories and you as an author can only have five stories compete in any single category (but this applies to all categories so you could have 30 plus if that was how many were nommed). A full list of the guidelines can be found on the website.

If you have a link to an archived version that you would prefer to have used for judging, please pass it along to us. Otherwise we will go with the version that was nominated. Additionally, if you would like to change the draft or anything, you can give us a new story link or change this one until February 10.

We would also be interested in archiving the story if it is selected as a winner. If you do not want to be archived on our site then we would like to present a link to the archived version of your choice.

If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail bsastrawberries@yahoo.com. You can also visit our message board at http://www.livejournal.com/community/bsastrawberries/ or our website, http://mysite.verizon.net/vzenvl6n/bsastrawberries/index.html.
