The Ren Faire was very neat, although a lot smaller than I figured it would be. Cedar City is the home of the Tony-Award-winning Utah Shakespearean Festival, so we thought it would be this huge thing. And it had the requisite people in costume and all that fun stuff...but I'm not sure the 7-hour round trip was worth it, you know?

That being said, I went against all common sense and went ahead and bought a slave bracelet. And it's purty, and it was only $8, and I'm wearing it now, and it's not at all annoying. I had to take out a couple of links in the chain that goes from the ring to the first jewel, because it was sort of flopping around on my hand, and once I swapped it from my ring finger to my middle finger, it quit flopping around even more and is staying put where it belongs. So, yes. Wearing it to the cocktail party. And possibly my brother's wedding.

Also, I did the art for AAAA, got it printed out, and got the fic itself hole-punched and put in the binder. Go, me.
cut to spare the flist because it's big )

So, that's done. The final pins still need names on the backs, but they're glued and stuff. Once I do laundry tomorrow, I'll get my final packing done. So, yes, progress is being made...

Including on the fic front. I think I may be on my final scene for the [livejournal.com profile] random_urges fic. And I hope that my recipient isn't too disappointed, because, dude. Not even any smoochies in this thing. I may have to gin up a PWP, or a fade-to-black, or something, as a separate fic, and you all know that characters having sex is totally not my thing at all, but...argh. This is what happens when you write fic for someone whose stories you absolutely love. You get scared of disappointing them. *sigh* But I'm knocking on 5800 words for this thing, and it has to end sometime.

In other news, I'm beginning to develop a deep and abiding hate on for my back. The herniated disk is picking one hell of a time to start pitching a fit, yo. *growls*

There's an early draft of the "Serenity" script.

Someone has told us what's in it. Spoilers, naturally. Although you must have been hiding under a rock if you don't know the major spoilers for the movie by now.

This early draft? Is available on eBay.

*flails some more*

This is assuming it's real and not some sophisticated attempt at fanfic by someone clever. I'm not sure we've heard official word from Joss about it or not yet.

In other news, my fandom fills me with glee.

Yes, those are goslings, for juggling. And those other things are Jayne hats for the goslings. Not only that, but the lady who did the hats has generously shared the pattern for both the gosling hats and the full-size Jayne hat so that people who knit can make their own.

I LOVE THIS FANDOM.

Let me preface this by saying, I don't wear much jewelry. I used to match earrings up with a pin and whatever animal I was wearing on a t-shirt that day, awhile ago. Nowadays, I don't generally bother.

That being said.

[livejournal.com profile] writercon is fast approaching. I bought a dress and a sash today for the cocktail party. I have earrings. The dress is a purple batik sort of thing with a tiger on the bottom of it, made in Thailand, and the sash is a wide crocheted thing in gold, silver, and white. I have a pewter tiger pin that I can wear if I wish, although the earrings are gold-tone and don't match it at all.

I still have no shoes, other than the bloody uncomfortable ones I really don't want to wear.

Then there's this thing. Which would go beautifully with the dress in a goldtone with the iridescent purple beads. But again. I don't wear jewelry much, and have no idea where else I would wear such an outlandish object. Firefly meetups? Eh, maybe, although I generally wear my various Serenity t-shirts to those. My brother's wedding is coming up in a couple of months...

So, the question becomes: Does the slave bracelet count as "swag"? Or should I just swallow hard and use other money for it? Or is it a silly thing to buy altogether?

*doesn't care*

I have justified buying this t-shirt with my WriterCon money under the category of "swag." I wanted it when Hot Topic had it...and then they meanly discontinued it before I could snag it. No way am I letting that opportunity go by again.

In fact, most of the $50 per check I put towards WriterCon is not going in the two-liter bottle I'm using as a bank this time. I want to buy the t-shirt and the yearbook...thing, too. Except...the website seems to be down. Rats.

In other WriterCon news, those of you on my flist who want an icon pin, sing out. I'm going to be making the final ones very soon.

I'm on track, money-wise, which is a fine and shiny thing. Now, if only the airline ticket prices would drop another hundred bucks or so, I could buy one and not have to fly standby. The fact that they've dropped $80 since the last time I looked is a hopeful one.
