Small planes, such as Cessna 177s and 310s? Do not have a "black box." Or any kind of flight data recorder. Hawaii Five-0 and Elementary, specifically, I am looking at you. I was geeking out when Sherlock was differentiating between the sand on the beach and the sand he found (because the canon Holmes knew all the dirt in London and it was a lovely shout-out), and then you had to go and ruin it by having a small plane have a "black box." Props for having it the correct color (the black box is actually orange), but that kind of plane doesn't have one.

Also, five minutes on Google would have revealed that the cargo hold in that particular plane is not in the damn belly of the thing. Or, you know, you could have made a phone call. It's not that hard to get this stuff right.

Research, people. You're getting paid for this shit?

Sincerely,

Dukes of Hazzard DVDs (as we do), and I noticed a name in the end credits.

Kelly Manners.

Huh, sez I, that name is familiar. And so it should be, to anyone who has even a passing familiarity with Joss Whedon's shows.

And now, of course, I'm beating off the crossover plot bunnies with a stick.

I feel like a ginormous geek right now. Not least because I am also holding, in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers, a copy of "Heat Wave," by Richard Castle. Yes. That Richard Castle. The guy in my icon. I had a 40% off coupon from Borders Rewards today (seriously, why is EVERYONE not a member of this? It's free. They send you coupons in your email. There is no bad there), and I hied me to the bookstore and snagged (possibly) the last copy on the shelf.

I also grabbed the latest Writers of the Future compilation, and I've just checked the WotF blog and found that the handsome and talented Chris Cook (one of the guys I hang out with at Cons) made the Honorable Mention list, and the handsome and talented [livejournal.com profile] bradrtorgersen made the Finalist cut. Congrats to them!

My entry for that quarter is now off to the wild slush pile at Realms. Cross your fingers for it. I hope it at least makes Doug laugh.

Also, I got some scribbling done today myownself and managed to merge a couple of scenes that needed it badly. Yay.

I'm back to thinking it sort of sucks.

GORRAMIT.

I mean, okay, yes, it's better. But "better" is relative. Better than the absolute suckitude that sucked at me before, fine. Better as in "actually good"... not so much.

*squints* I think it might need more dialogue. I feel like I'm still telling instead of showing. The last bit I added is GOLD. *snuggles poor not!Harry like whoa*

And I have discovered the wonder of Googledocs. What better way to get instant feedback? And it's via invitation only, so I have control over who sees it. NICE.

Which is what I should be doing...

I played around in PaintShopPro today.

Because, as soon as I saw these, this weekend, I said, "Tony Stark would SO have one of those. Not only that, but he'd give the board a collective heart attack by actually driving it." And I thought that because I am a giant nerd. Seriously, I'm the only person I know who would combine fandom and NHRA. Just sayin'.

So, I give you...

The Stark Industries Pro-Mod Willys.

I love you, I really do. But this? Is not a Dalmatian. It is a Pointer. Not only that, but there's no "o" in "Dalmatian." Just because a dog has spots does not mean that it's one of the breed made famous by Disney. Therefore, you are made of LOSE. TWICE.

No biscuit for you!
