I'm not cutting it, because, dude. It's just 200 words.

Title: The Curse of the Autographed Football
Author: babies stole my dingo (agilebrit)
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Rating: G
Length: Double drabble (200 words)
Disclaimer: Joss is the genius behind these characters; I am but a lowly follower. I make no money from any of this, so please don't sue me.
Feedback: Concrit adored! If you see something that can be improved upon, please let me know, even if it's only a typo.
Written for: The Ensemble challenge at [livejournal.com profile] writercon. The challenge was to have an argument over a cursed football between Willow, Cordy, Giles, Xander, Buffy, and Oz. In fifteen minutes. I've added a few phrases to make it exactly 200 words, and taken out some repeated words, but it's pretty much unchanged from the original.

"Weird," Oz commented.

"Can't we just...I don't know...throw it away?" Willow gazed at the object worriedly.

They stood gathered around a football, but at a respectable distance from it. It spun on its axis, chomping fangs at them.

"I'm not touching it." Cordy made a face. "Because, ew. Not to mention 'ow.'"

"Just throwing it away would be imprudent," Giles said, cleaning his glasses. "A child might find it."

"How do I slay a football?" Buffy glared at it.

Xander poked at the non-toothy end with his toe. The football spun, snapping, and he withdrew hurriedly. "I think this might be more of a guy thing. Maybe a play we can run to de-curse it?"

Buffy acted as though Xander hadn't spoken. "Bound to be something I can drop on it to flatten it. Anvil, maybe? Crossbow? Nail it to the ground?"

"We can't destroy it!" Xander protested. "Joe Namath signed it!"

"Joe who?" Cordy crossed her arms defensively when Xander glowered at her. "What?"

Oz reached into his back pocket and pulled out a yellow bandana, throwing it on the grass in front of the ball. Whimpering, it recoiled, and they all stared at him. "Penalty flag," he explained.

I have finished my Scatterlings and Orphanages fic. And only a day late (thanks to date confusion on my part. Looking at a calendar every once in awhile would be smrt)!

So, without further ado...

Written for: [livejournal.com profile] multifandom1000's "Playlist" challenge. This also satisfies [livejournal.com profile] ludditerobot's request way back when for a Xander and Faith conversation post-Chosen.
Notes: I'm lame, I have no playlist, but Toto's "Africa" is one of my favorite songs (which, I'm sure, makes me even lamer). And this is a one-shot. Which means I'm done with it, unless the Muse gives me something more for it--which she hasn't done. Not that my flist doesn't know what a "one-shot" is, but I've gotten two reviews at FFN basically saying "nice start!" My own fault, I guess, for writing fics with open-ended endings, and I'm rambling now so I'll just shut up and let you read the fic.Read more... )

Mood is "annoyed" because really, who wants to write depressing, dank fic like this before lunch?

...of "Soulless, Evil Things."

A couple of notes that have really nothing to do with this fic:
I haven't forgotten about the nice folks that gave me challenge assignments a few days ago. Now that I'm done with this, I'll be poking at them and seeing what comes out.

[livejournal.com profile] scarletangel68, I have something in the works that may serve for your challenge, but it's going to take quite some thought and setting up. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait. :-)

On to Chapter Two! )

Okay, folks, here we go. Fic posting time:

Title: Soulless, Evil Things
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Rating: PG-13 (language, violence)
Words: A little over 10,000
Disclaimer: Not mine, they're Whedon's. *sob* Some dialogue was cribbed directly from Episode 88 "Into the Woods," written by Marti Noxon.
Written for: Inspired by You Got the Stones Challenge #44: Buffy must be nice and non-selfish (NO spells allowed to explain this), Riley MUST prove some of his teaching credentials (ie - not being his usual, dopey self--sorry, Riley fans) and - the hard part - the plot: A big bad threat comes to Sunnydale (quelle surprise!) and Spike is in severe danger with the usual drinkie of the Slayer blood cure - does new, reformed Buffy (a) take this chance to let him die or (b) does she do what she did with Angel-poos? I know it's not much of a challenge, but the characterization should prove...er...interesting enough *evil grin*
ALSO - must feature all of the following: A bar of chocolate in a VERY strange part of Willow's anatomy, those plastic, Christmas reindeer horns, a blood-flavoured milkshake and a cameo role for Drusilla, either in flashback or returning.
Notes: Takes place sometime after "Shadow" and goes AU from there. Many heartfelt thanks to [livejournal.com profile] honorh, [livejournal.com profile] illmantrim, [livejournal.com profile] jerib_78, [livejournal.com profile] alliterator, and [livejournal.com profile] appomattoxco for being sounding boards and letting me bounce stuff off them. I did not want to make Riley the bad guy in this fic, but when it went that way in spite of my best efforts, they gave me a way to do it without making it a "BashFic." You guys rock!On to the fic! )
