The World Horror Convention has begun. In Salt Lake City.

And I can't go.

*cries*

The Hubby has to work this weekend, and I have no one I can ask to watch Da Boy ALL DAY LONG for three days. We're solving this problem for CONduit by flying him out to Texas to stay with his aunt, but no can do this time.

Yes, I'm feeling a bit whiny about this. Especially as I could have got in for the whole weekend for $25 as a volunteer. Wah.

In other news, some of you know that I do an hour a day/burn 500 calories on my stationary recumbent bike. Last night? I ripped out those 500 calories with eight seconds to spare in one session. I usually take two to four, depending on the day. The day before yesterday, I did one 35-minute session and one 25-minute session. I've heard that runners who train a lot can double their usual distance, and I now tend to give that some credence.

We went and saw Horton Hears a Who yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was terribly afraid they'd butcher it, but they did a great job. It's my favorite Seuss book ("A person's a person, no matter how small" tickles my little pro-life heart), and this one is definitely going in the DVD collection.

Also, I will get some writing done today. And I will also call my dad, whose birthday it is. We have four and a half hours of school to do (starting cursive today, and oh my gosh the whining!). Somewhere in there I'd like to go pick up my copy of "Everybody's Dead" that the comic store is holding for me. Food. Food would be good, as the cupboards are somewhat bare.

AUGH. At least I've caught up with my flist, mostly?

I got my Serenity ornament today, and it is very shiny and made of awesome. It would be even cooler if I had the Mal and Jayne action figures to go with it, but I don't. Woe. Perhaps I shall finally buy them on eBay. Along with Spike's and Angel's cars. After all, I have Starsky's car--along with a Pacer, a Pinto, and a Gremlin, and a '59 DeSoto Fireflite that isn't Spike's.

My Farscape S2 DVDs shipped today. Which is good, because we've only got six eps left to watch in S1. My Angel scriptbooks are nowhere to be seen, and I'm really hoping that they didn't come while we were in Dallas and get stolen off my porch, because that would suck. I'll give them another week before I start getting worried.

I have two and a half pages of ScruffDogFic. Where this is going, I have no idea, and I'm seriously debating having her die on the operating table. The Hubby says I can't do that, because the Antichrist can't die, per se, but he is a silly person.

I got my assignment for [livejournal.com profile] friend_fic today. Now I have a month to pick two characters of the opposite sex and write friendship fic inspired by "nothing whatsoever." Hee! Ideas are percolating. I've wanted to write Jayne and Inara for a fair bit. This may be my opportunity, although [livejournal.com profile] inlovewithnight has written the perfect one of those.

The airplane should be ready any time. The radio that was off getting fixed is done getting fixed and should be shipped back to the FBO soon. Hubby's got eight days off for his transition from August to September, so if it's ready then, that would be perfect.

I did 26.6 miles and burned 1250 calories on the recumbent stationary bike yesterday. Today, I'm doing a little weightlifting. That being said, I do not recommend dropping three pounds in one day to anyone. 'Tis draining. But at least I'm back to where I was before we went to Texas. Of course, that was before we found the dark chocolate M&Ms at WalMart, which we've been waiting to come out FOREVER. And they are just as delicious as you'd think they'd be. Dammit.

I did two half-hour sessions on my new recumbent stationary bike today and burned (according to the little readout doohickey) five hundred calories, total.

That's good, right?

In fic-writing news, I've done a whole paragraph in my [livejournal.com profile] random_urges ficathon entry. Go, me?

We did a day trip to Moab yesterday. Bought some pretties for the front room, which is coming together nicely. Wandered about some furniture stores today, looking for coffee and end tables. Found a set we like, which we'll probably grab next paycheck or so. Yay.

*headdesks* Remember how I said I wasn't going to break into my WriterCon fund anymore? Well. I found a teeny tiny echidna carved out of bone in one of the little shops in Moab. How could I say no to that? Will post a pic of him soon. His detail is incredible; I'll never find another like him. So, now I have to save an extra $15 from each check from the two we're getting between now and then. But, but...ECHIDNA! And...echidna that CAN'T POSSIBLY BE MISTAKEN FOR A HEDGEHOG.

*headdesks again* I spend my money on the strangest things.
