Okay, seriously. Whose POV is this scene in:

Alex rubbed his eyes and peered through the microscope yet again. He hadn't slept at all; instead he'd stayed up looking for answers that remained stubbornly elusive. Janni sat on the couch with a thousand-yard stare, and Pamela was using Megan's research of the previous night to hunt down more Ostheim properties. Megan sat at the desk doing email triage. Some board members were making noise again, and she told them that Alex was involved in a special project and couldn't make a teleconference for at least a few more days. She opened the next one, and--

Inhaled sharply. "No. Oh, no."

*smacks own head* I mean, I realize why I did that thing about the board members, but I did it in exactly the wrong place for the POV that scene was supposed to be in. Which means I need to figure out another place to talk about the board members making noise and Alex ignoring them.

In other news, I went to the dentist today (again), and ow. Gawd, I hate this...

It's funny how things can blend together like that.

I was working on a fanfic (bad me!) the other day. I don't know if you're very familiar with Anne McCaffrey and her works, but she has the wildly popular Dragonriders of Pern series. Her second-most popular series is probably her Talent series. I fic in both universes of hers. The one I was actually working on was my Pern-based one...I'm just at my desk, writing away on it...and then suddenly I realize I almost made Robinton (from the Pern series) speak to Damia (from the Talent series). Why hallo thar, unintentional crossover!

...you know, this comment had more to do with the POV shifty shifty thing you had going on when I first thought of it, but now I'm not so sure. But yeah. It's interesting when your brain crosses wires.

Interestingly, I had a character that forcibly created himself due to writer-having-crossed-wires-in-brain...I had a character named Peter, and when I was writing, I kept calling him "Paul". This kept happening over and over again. Finally I decided, "What the hell!" (as opposed to editing and saying, "What the hell? Who is 'Paul'?") and created a character named Paul, and made him an evil twin.

After that I never had an issue with not calling Peter "Peter".
