And now I'm writing actual!Iron Man fanfic. Because I've got an image in my head of Harry and Harmony and it should be Tony and Pepper and gorramit I really didn't want to go there but here I am. I'm such an angst-puppy. Gah.

Also, IMDB is being singularly uncooperative with the quotes for Iron Man. It looks like many of them came from the shooting script rather than the actual movie. And watching interviews with RDJ and Jon, we know that Robert walked into Jon's trailer on a daily basis with the day's pages in his hand, crumpled them up, and threw them against the wall, and they pretty much made the dialogue up as they went. So, yeah. Anyone have the actual quote from Tony after Pepper has her hand in his chest? Was it "You're all I have?" Argh.

In other news, LJ is bringing back Basic Accounts at the end of summer. *applauds*

125.2 this morning. Hubby thinks I look "hot." *grins* And I'll think of it as "2.8" more pounds to go rather than "3" because that makes it feel as though I'm still making progress. Of course, that might also mean I relax about it a little, which I really can't afford to do, so it's a two-edged sword.

Another rejection in the inbox. Whee. No one loves me. Or the CatFeet story.

Anyone reading this going to WorldCon? Hello? Anyone?

So protest really can bring about change. Who would've thunk it?

Sometimes, apparently, they listen. Good on them. :)

except - not really.

Basic accounts *will* have ads, just 'not on the journal' istelf and some pages, but on other pages they will. It's all in the 'news' announcement thingy.

LJ is still lamesauce.

Well, foo. I didn't read that far...

If I start seeing ads on my personal LJ, I'm going to be very put out.

Oh - it gets better.

If you have a 'grandfathered' basic account - ads will show up eventually. So, mostly, LJ is full of shit, yet again, and they WILL phase out what we consider 'basic'.

B/c right now, the way it reads, Plus and Basic are very similar, but seeing fewer ads gives you fewer icons.

I'm waiting for the day LJ starts charging for the 'basic' level accounts. To be honest, I think more ppl would pay $5/yr for a basic account (no perks; min # of icons) with NO ads than pay nothing for a Plus account w/ ads everywhere.

Honestly, something like that might work out better in the long run. Of course, if they do that, then people will bitch b/c it's not free anymore and there's no reason to come here, blah blah blah. The 'entitlement' attitude of the online hoardes is sickening, really.

Communication - yes; free stuff just b/c - no.

Well, what I'm seeing is that people who are logged in won't see ads, except on Plus accounts that already have them. Since I'm perma-logged, it won't change much for me personally. But people who don't have accounts on LJ will see ads.

I may be reading that wrong. :/

That's one of the options - they had listed about 3.

Either way - it's not exactly 'bringing back' the Basic accounts.

I'm waiting for Dreamwidth to get off the ground and functioning as they want it, then I'll probably be exclusively there. =)

Ahhh - but the dreamwidth.org design plan is to be a 'portal' to any and all journal-type sites. Designed to let you move w/o leaving everything behind - like getting a new job in a new city, as opposed to being put in witness protection. =)

I'm pretty sure it was "You're all I have" in that soft quiet tone of voice that kind of showed how true that statment was. I always throught he said more then he ment to with how he said that line.

I love how he delivered the line, and then with the self-deprecating face-quirk afterwards. I just can't remember the actual LINE, and I'm wondering if I'm riffing from Pepper's "You're all I have too, you know."

I honestly can't remeber. I'm sure you could find the scene on youtube... (looks) Okay, I can't find the whole scene, but I did find the line from the movie: "I don't have anyone but you," with a bit of a stutter at the start.

BTW: Any chance you migth be coming up to Seattle for RainFurrest (September 26 - 28)? I really need some authors for the writing track.

Ah, thank you!

I hadn't planned on RainFurrest. It's the weekend before MountainCon, so timing and money is...problematic. Also, I'm not actually a Furry, so I'm not sure how well I'd fit in there.

I just watched it again yesterday, so you'd think I'd have it memorized at this point. But yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what he says.

Anyone reading this going to WorldCon? Hello? Anyone?

[sobs] no. I thought for sure I'd make it this time too. But then, I didn't even make Anaheim, and I pre supported that one.

This is my first WorldCon. I figured that since it's practically in my backyard, I should go. I know a couple of locals are going, but it would be really cool if folks on my flist were too.

Well, one of my best friends will be there with her husband, she who wrote the crossover of doom for my BD yesterday. I was the one that got them going to SF cons as opposed to media cons [g] She's an aspiring writer, has done the new writer workshops at WorldCons before. Happy to connect the two of you -- no pressure though, just tossing it out there :)

Always willing to make new friends. :)

Speaking of which, I note that you have a Yahoo IM. Mind if I add you?

I'll email her and set up an introduction [g] We met through Highlander fandom after being set up by a mutual and we had a blind 'date' at a Highland games that was between where we all lived :)

Sure, feel free. Just be forewarned that I can't really remember the last time I opened up the program [g]

When I first got online, I was an IRC addict. I never quite warmed up to chat programs [g] I always feel rude if I don't respond to people, and usually, I'm bugged by people I don't really want to talk to. I'm such an antisocial hermit [g]I think part of the problem is I've had my Yahoo account for 12 years, and there's way too many people who have me listed at this point. Maybe I need a new fresh ID and start over!

Well, yay for saving money, anyway. I guess I've been lucky with the two previous out-of-town Cons I've been to, where the rooms were less than a hundred bucks a night. And I had a roomie. :/
