Also, I won the book on eBay last night that completes my Albert Payson Terhune collection, and I got it for a silly price. The cheapest copy on ABE is $75. My price? $31. *dances* And a one-second snipe, BABY. *buffs nails*

Am I breaking into my writercon fund to pay for these things? Yes, yes, I am. Do I feel guilty about it? Mildly. However, I've got $60 coming to me from the sale of a camera that will make up for it. So, I'm good, I think.

Au contraire, a fast connection is not required, just a consistent one. I used to routinely be able to get under-five second snipes with my 33.6K modem, using the same technique I use now, outlined here. All the people who came to the bidding board whining about how they couldn't outsnipe people with fast connections, I'd tell them about my antique computer and my antique modem (back then; I've upgraded and now my equipment is teh shiny) and shut them right up. LOL But it definitely gets the adrenaline going, especially when it's a book I've been on the hunt for, for YEARS.

Hopefully I can do that well with the anteater later in the week...

I have a rather odd and special anteater collection, and there's one ending in a few days that I'm planning on sniping out from under some poor soul if it doesn't go too high.

Shiny! Did you get it? I'm saving up my money for an mp3 player (I think after waiting two years to see how it turns out, I can officially declare it Not Just a Fad and get one finally, right?) or else I'd be all over that.
