My hate for Bucky runs true and deep. The man sings like he's got a mouthful of marbles and country night was no exception, no matter how much the judges liked him. Ace has been getting by on his looks for weeks. UGH.
Ah, perhaps you underestimated the potency of fat-phobia and vitriolic obesity-bashing in the great U.S. of A.?
After all, it's not reasonable to expect millions of couch potatoes to put up with a female image so close to their reality emanating from the source of their fantasies, the TV. It's supposed to be reserved for images of stick-thin, silicone-enhanced "normal" beauty!
And hey, forget about talent. It's all about the visuals. Mandisa was an affront to the viewing pleasure of the American public, particularly the male public, I would imagine. She had to go.
Part of the reason I liked her so much (aside from her amazing voice) was that she challenged the standard "image of beauty" that we seem to have become enamored of. She is a gorgeous, self-confident lady. *sigh* There went a third of my reason for watching.
Apparently there was some for of hubbub about a comment she made that a)made it clear she was Christian (duh) and b)was interpreted as homophobic.
They really should give all the contestants publicists and PR reps to hound all the papers and say, "that's not what s/he said, you're twisting the words around."
*scratches head in puzzlement*

Date: 2006-04-06 11:18 am (UTC)We should stage a coup and drag Bucky and Ace off that show by their long and scraggly hairs. Sheesh!
