Miss H at OBAFU gave us a challenge: Write a story about a character you don't like, that doesn't bash them. The only character I have a real hate on for in the Buffyverse (aside from the obvious villains) is Kennedy--and I don't have a *thing* to say about that little bint.

However...I've been unhappy with Buffy ever since season 5 or so. She's been mean to my Spike. And, while he may not be entirely blameless in the entire situation, she didn't have to be *that* vicious, that often. Had she cut him just a little slack, I might not be as angry with her as I was--but she didn't.

So. This is the result. Read it, review it, give me a happy.

Ha. I have disliked Buffy ever since she became a self righteous little madam in season 5. And season 6 was worse. I want her to go to Spike in LA and announce she is baked and for him to say "Great. But I don't love you anymore - sorry, you took too long cooking!"

Weird thing. I find that my irritation with Buffy extends itself to SMG too...

*red face* forgot to mention that I liked your fic very much. I found it very hard to accept that the ME writers wanted us to believe Buffy was a hero type when she behaved like a brat. You did a very nice job of portraying Buffy realising this.

The link did weird things though, taking me through a secure area. Should that have happened? It doesn't usually, at FF.net.

Thank you!

Glad you liked it. :-D FFN has been doing secure things lately, so if it starts with an httpS in the link...it'll go thru the secure area. Drives me nuts, too.

It just seems to me that a Champion (which is what Buffy is supposed to be) should act like one. And part of "acting like one" is offering forgiveness when it's...maybe not deserved, but....needed? Not sure that's the right word or not. Maybe what I'm trying to say is that a Champion should be bigger than their circumstances, or should at least come out on the other side a better person.

:) I posted a review just now. I hope it gives you your 'happy'!

I liked it. I hate Buffy with the intensity of a thousand fiery suns, but I might not have hated her so if she had learned to accept responsibility for her actions, and said she was sorry.

Everyone was going on about the Redemption of Spike, when it was really Buffy that needed to be redeemed.

Awwwww.....

*blush*

Thanx, Deana! Definitely gave me a happy.

I'm finding it a little ironic that a fic that takes place a year and a half ago is getting more reviews than a fic that took place right after "Destiny." LOL

The AR will always be a hot-button topic. Won't ever get away from it.

But, feel free to return to indulging in some healthy BuffyLoathing :)

LOL I once posted a long, angry rant about Buffy on a James Marsters board that's now (unfortunately) defunct. Wish I'd kept an archive of it, because what I remember of it was pretty good...but alas! It's gone.

I don't hate Buffy. I just haven't liked her very much since Season 5 or so. But then, I may be just a teeny bit biased...
