agilebrit: (I regret nothing)
My cup runneth over. Two of my stories came out today. You can now read the... thing known in these parts as "the terribad story" here, along with five other groaningly awful flash fiction pieces.

The illustration is awesome.

I apologize deeply, but, as the icon says, regret nothing.

It will be coming out March 31. My first Steampunk Werewolf Western, "Of Were-Critters, Widow Women, and Water Rights," appears in it, and I'm excited to see it in print.

This means I have release dates for three of the remaining five stories that have acceptances. "Bear Essentials" is coming out on April 29, and "War of the Were-Mice" is coming out on April 1.

More news as events warrant!

Y'all remember the Terribad Story I did for "Unlikely Acceptances"? The Hubby and the Boy both maintained that I was under-committed, because I refused to typo or use homonyms wrongly.

Well. The TOC is out.

And THERE I AM. I got the email earlier today and wanted to wait for the official announcement.

I'll just be over here. Giggling madly that my third professional-rate sale is for... that.

  • Sat, 19:58: At least the Terribad Story is giving me an excuse to exercise my penchant for awful metaphors. Whee!
  • Sat, 22:40: Meeting with Writing Buddy shook next part of Story loose. And Terribad Story is probably as Terrible and Bad as it's going to get, so.

  • Fri, 18:50: *glares at Terribad Story* I think I'm going to just set this aside for a bit and let it marinate. I only have 29 words to play with anyway.

  • Wed, 13:59: AHA. It was a downy woodpecker. Tiny little bird with a tiny little beak (relatively speaking). Awesome!

agilebrit: (Not the worst thing)
At the bottom of this Terribad Story.

Considering the fact that I just started it yesterday and this may be the first you've heard of it unless you follow me on Twitter, this is quite an accomplishment. It comes in at 830 words, doesn't have a title yet, and needs editing to make it actually bad.

I was going to tell y'all what it involves, but, you know what? You're better off not knowing. I'll just be over here, headdesking and ashamed of myself.

  • Tue, 13:27: Week just keeps getting better and better. NOT. I love ordering a book in "good" condition only to receive an ex-lib with a broken binding.
  • Tue, 13:41: I think they expect me to send this thing back, at my expense, which will probably cost more than the damn book did. Yeah, no.
  • Tue, 13:46: Emailed bookseller; if I have to send it back at my own expense, then forget it--I'll eat the cost and be more wary going forward. Ugh.
  • Tue, 20:52: Oh, look, this is me, writing 1000 words of terribad prose because I can't think of anything else. Do I have Plot? Nope. Winging it.
  • Tue, 20:55: In my defense, it's for this: http://t.co/OeonlPqmaj and their "Unlikely Acceptances" collection.
  • Wed, 01:48: ...I'm going to have to go back and edit this story to make it suck MORE. It's actually amusing me quite a bit right now.
