What with all the taxes I did. But it's done. Go, me. I hope I didn't screw it up too badly, like I did last year.

Since the day couldn't get any worse, I decided to print out Hitman!Ben for a snail mail sub, because that's always fun. But I'm out of ink. So that's awesome.

Actually, I take that back. Today was a mix of awesome and awful. On the awful side, there were the aforementioned taxes (and three hours of my life I will never get back). I've had a cold for the past three days and am coughing my head off. Also, you'd think there'd be some kind of conservation of mass going on with all this goop in my sinuses, but I think a white hole has taken up residence inside them and is just... spewing mucus. It's gross, for the record. And my intestines have decided that they are also unhappy with the current turn of events. What fun, right?

On the plus side, we got paid today, so I got to put money in my anteater for MisCon, which I always enjoy doing. One more paycheck will have me fully funded for that. We ate at Famous Dave's, and it was delicious. And I picked up book 4 in Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid series, which I am enjoying immensely. I also picked up the Iron Man 3 Prelude comic after deciding not to blow ten bucks on Empire Magazine, whose cover story this issue is (you guessed it) Iron Man 3.

I got no writing or editing done. My head hurts and I'm tired and not real think-y right now. I may take a desultory poke at something tonight, but. . . I doubt it, honestly.

I have accomplished absolutely nothing of note. No outline, not even a line. I copied and pasted the seven part plot-point outline into a blank doc. That's it.

This is probably a function of the fact that my brain is mush do DUE (!!--see what I mean???) to the cold I've managed to come down with. I feel somewhat more with-it now than I have most of the afternoon, but I'm still logy and tired and bleh.

But I've started "Cold Days" and tagged an RP post. I am in the midst of making dinner for my Hung'r'd Brood. And there's a cat on me. I suppose the day's not a total loss. Plus Castle and Hawaii Five-0 are on tonight and Castle looks awesome.

Someone upload me some motivation?

Good news.

I had a dermatologist play whack-a-mole with a blemish on my back last week, and the results came back yesterday.

I do not have skin cancer.

I didn't think I did, but confirmation is a wonderful thing.

In other news, I had a wonderful day at the Con yesterday hanging out with all the cool kids. Of course, I'm freakin' exhausted right now, but that's okay.

Carry on.

My entire body feels like it's in rebellion. My head hurts, my throat hurts, and I think my uterus is trying to break free and run away. God, I wish it would, because as much as I rail about the Utter Fail of my uterus on a regular basis, it doesn't usually hurt me. I'd put this at about a six on the pain scale--and I'm not even bleeding.

Ibuprofen and heating pad. We shall see what they will do, but I may end up back in bed before the day's over, because this suuuuuuuuuuuucks.

EDIT: However, Cute Overload just gave me a baby anteater, so that at least makes me smile.

New mood theme.

I went poking around LJ yesterday looking for something RDJ or Iron Man-related, and the one created by [livejournal.com profile] lidi filled the bill quite nicely.

Although I'd like to find one that uses Robert's characters from his movies as well. The lovely and effulgent [livejournal.com profile] pensive1 has one that someone created using photoshoots and candids that's pretty shiny too.

I should make a KKBB mood theme. That would rock so very hard. Alas, I think I've only got screencaps from the last third of the movie. Maybe I'll go poking around looking for the rest. Sometime.

Because I don't have enough to do.

In other news, I may be sick. I've got a scratchy thing going in my throat, and standing up while the Hubby cut my hair this morning proved to be...problematic. I do not like getting dizzy like that.

The (apparent) flu bug that went through me and Da Boy like a hot knife through ice cream has landed upon the Hubby's head. Of course, he's supposed to work tomorrow, but he had the wisdom to call in sick. He's miserable (TRY getting him to admit it!) and said, "This is no ordinary cold." I just nodded sagely, because I'm still coughing. And Da Boy put himself to bed right after dinner, before 7pm. This...never happens. Yep, we're getting our asses kicked here.

Fortunately, he's got 11 days to recover, because he's got a week off after he was supposed to fly this shift. This month did not work out at all like he planned.

In writing news, I've moved the plot of the Giant Bugs story forward microscopically. However, that one's going on a back burner while I work on one for a writing contest from the AKC that the lovely and effulgent [livejournal.com profile] mermaidrain pointed me at. I just have to figure out (a) what to write, and (b) how to keep it under 2,000 words.

You know, I'm the one that writes funny werewolf stories. I shall ponder were-Poodles. None of your yappy little things; I'm talking Standard Were-Poodles. Or maybe Were-Brittanies... I can imagine the bird obsession.

Poor Hubby.

the BearFic is DONE.

*tiredly blows party horn*

Now all I have to do is format it, print it, take it to the post office, and ship it off.

I'm far better today. Da Boy? Got hammered on day one, was pretty good on day two, although he went to bed early, and is FINE today. *glares* Darn him and his six-year-old robust constitution. At least I got some sleep last night. This is progress. Climbing stairs = still bad, however. *sigh*

And hopefully I'll be even better tomorrow and actually open the BearFic and poke it some.

My fever broke sometime yesterday after I spent most of the day laid out on the couch. And I've lost 3.6 lbs in the last two days, with, no doubt, more tomorrow, because I've done this thing called not eating. Even peanut butter (the last of the peanut butter!) left me cold, and I gave up after eating less than half the sandwich. However, it's making me horribly horribly thirsty. I'm sucking water down, but it's not helping, and my tongue just feels weird.

In a startling reversal of how such things usually go, I've managed to pass this on to Da Boy. Poor little guy, he was miserable today. The quiet was nice, but...disturbing.

Hopefully I'll want to eat tomorrow, especially since the Steelers are playing. Pizza sounds fabulous...or it would, if I were remotely hungry.

I've been sick three times this winter. And I have a story I really need to finish before the 31st. However, I'm getting my ASS kicked here; I'm exhausted, can't talk, and it practically took an act of Congress for me to take a shower this morning. And of course, it's settled in my throat, which involves a lot of coughing, which makes the bad man with the icepick take great glee in stabbing me in the back.

Blah.

This cold is kicking my ass, y'all. *loathes* This is the second time I've been sick this winter. NOT FAIR. And I'm supposed to go down to Provo tomorrow to help [livejournal.com profile] sandratayler mail out the new Schlock Mercenary books. I'm not really coughing or throwing a lot of phlegm; my head just sort of hurts and my throat isn't sore per se, but it feels weird. 600mg of ibuprofen seems to have knocked some of it back.

Writing? What is this "writing" of which you speak? Blah.

So, in our quest for Da Boy to be more social, we have sent him out into the neighborhood to make friends with other children. Which is a right and proper thing to do.

Of course, the first thing he's done is bring a cold home.

And the second thing he's done is give it to me.

Ugh, I feel horrible. And I still have to vacuum, put laundry away, and do an hour on the bike, because the weather is shit and a walk is out of the question.

I may beg off the bike.

In writing news, I had a hook for the "Dare to Be Bad" challenge my Writing Buddy gave me...and have lost all interest in it after staring at it for two days. Now I've thought of another one which is far more interesting to me because it stars a cat. Greek Gods FTL, kitties FTW.
