agilebrit: (Drabble Queen)

Anything interesting happen while I was gone? We had a lovely trip and a very nice visit with the HubbyMom. I managed to get a little writing done (not much, but some), and we saw "The Incredibles." And it kicked butt. So I'm going to be a sheep and say what everyone else on my flist is saying: GO SEE IT.

So, yeah, I should have been working on my NaNo novel instead of drabbling, but you know, I just can't help myself. I suck.

Notes: Takes place during Angel 5:08 "Destiny."

Fettered and bound by the constraints of Victorian society, William felt himself unfold like a rose now that he was a vampire. No, not a harmless rose, he told himself; a Venus flytrap. Innocuous-looking but deadly. The people who'd laughed him to scorn at the party that night found themselves laughing out of the other sides of their faces--literally, in a few instances.

But Angelus had pruned him back, right enough. And instead of freedom, a new kind of limitation was being imposed on him, born of physical power rather than conventional reticence.

Bloody hell. He just couldn't win.

Notes: Wes contemplates his new relationship with Fred after the events of "Smile Time."

"Oh, screw it," she said, and kissed him.

In that moment, Wesley's world changed. He'd loved Fred from afar for years--her nonstop babble, her quirky sense of humor, her brilliant mind, even the barbaric food she enjoyed. He'd watched and despaired as she and Gunn became an item...and despaired even more as that relationship failed, and she still regarded him with no more than sisterly affection.

How many signals had he missed? She seemed to think that quite a few had gone right over his head. Well, no matter.

Now they had all the time in the world.

Hey, did you see Lost? It was Sawyer-riffic! (Seriously, you'll love it. I won't spoil anything for you, but it was almost as good as Locke's episode. This is all your fault, you know?)

Yeah, I saw "Lost," and then the Hubby and I had a big ol' disagreement about it. Which I will be posting about and asking opinions of my flist later today. Because he might be right, and I might be on crack in my interpretation of this ep.

I taped it. I should watch it again...

Oh, and when Hurley said to Jack "That was like some sort of Jedi thing" (or something like that) I totally called that before he said it. I would have said the same thing.

Gads, I'm a geek...

I said, "Dude" along with Hurley when Charlie kept asking about the peanut butter.

Loved "New Beginning." I nearly tore my hair out at the irony, though. I really should be over the whole Fred's dead thing. :-\

I want to see The Incredibles! I can't admit it to my friends, of course. Sigh.

Can't admit it to your friends? Sounds like you need better, geekier friends, then. Seriously, you're never "too cool" to watch a movie like this, because it's the definition of "cool." (said the geek) The kids are awesome, the parents (especially the Mom) totally ROCK, and the plot is fascinating. It's not as cute and fluffy as Pixar's other features, and it earns the PG rating. Da Boy (who is three) kept his eyes covered through a good portion of it.

Yeah, the irony was kind of the point... Poor Wesley. But I refuse to believe that Fred's really gone. I've heard stuff about plans for S6 that imply that they were going to bring her back. And Sparrow had ulterior motives to make them think she was gone forever, so the whole "her soul was destroyed in the fires of Illyria's resurrection" line was, IMO, a load of Barbra Streisand (BS).
