Reading the TwoP "Lost" board for the "White Rabbit" ep, people were speculating about the knowledge of the Korean couple's ethnicity. Sawyer called Jin "Mr. Miyagi." Hurley referred to them as "Chinese." And Walt said they were Korean. So I went here and took the test. And got eight out of eighteen right. The average is seven out of eighteen, so I'm a little better than average, but ye gods.

There's also a lot of criticism of the people standing around on the beach while Joanna was drowning, but I remember [livejournal.com profile] shaddyr's post about everyone standing around while that girl had a seizure, and someone else posting on that entry that there was actually a syndrome about that, with people in crowds not acting in a crisis. Not an excuse, but an explanation, perhaps.

I am so loving this show. I can't wait for Hurley's and Charlie's episodes. Sayid is a hottie. Sawyer is a jerk...but he was reading "Watership Down," which makes me hate him a bit less. I love Locke to death. And the island is teh kewllies.

Yeah. "Lost" is my new crack.

Well, it's definitely going in the DVD collection when it comes out, unless it disappoints me terribly between now and the end of the season. It totally rocks.

Darnit, I want to see Lost, but it's one the same time as Smallville and I'm already committed to watching that (but if it gets any worse, I might stop).

Anyway, I took the test and don't feel bad, because I got a 6. Gah. I'm terrible. Of course, it didn't help that I kept on pressing a button when the next picture wouldn't load.

Can't you pick up a VCR for under $50? Probably under $30 if you go to a pawn shop or a garage sale. "Lost" has become my "must-see TV." Catch the Saturday encore presentations, for sure. These last two were quite interesting, especially the old guy's.

But, yes. The VCR is your friend. :-)

I don't think that'll work for a number of reasons. A) No idea how to work a VCR. B) In a dorm room right now, so watch tv in dorm lounge. Of course, if I was at home, I could just TiVo it and Smallville at the same time. Sigh. I miss TiVo.

But I didn't know there were Saturday repeats. When are they? Since I caught up with the latest Desperate Housewives episode (great, by the way, I recommend it), I can watch TV on Saturday.

They're on tonight at 7 and 8. Locke's ep is on at 7, and Jack's at 8. They don't rerun them every Saturday, but they are tonight.

You don't have a TV in your room? Horrors. But, hey, if I can learn to program a VCR, you should have no problem. Especially nowadays when all you really have to do is punch in an episode number. Honestly, I think people make these things needlessly complicated. And if you're using a VCR, you can also set it by time, so you can start it five minutes before it's supposed to start and five minutes after it's supposed to end, and that way you get the whole thing. A lot of people on the TwoP board were complaining that their TiVO cut off the last couple of minutes last week.

I tape "Smallville," and watch and tape "Lost" (I have two VCRs). I think I have to go back and review all the episodes to look for clues. Oh, you know that writer for "Diagnosis Murder" who was trashing fanfic authors? You posted about him recently? I was looking through the rest of his blog, and he said he didn't think "Lost" has enough potential story material to be a long-running series. He said something about how they could kill a character every week but what else could they do? What a moron! He obviously has little imagination.

I also took the quiz. I only got a 5. I was guessing right and left because I didn't know what to look for. When I finished the quiz, I was hoping it would say something about HOW to tell who was what, but I didn't see a thing. Looking at the correct answers didn't help, either.

"Kill a character every week"? Erm, no one's died yet except the bounty hunter (who was basically meat after the plane crashed anyway) and the anonymous drowned lady (who just went for a swim and got caught in a rip). There's a billion things that can happen between now and the end of the season besides people dying. Yeah, there's a reason Lee Goldberg is writing hackneyed crap for "Diagnosis: Murder." Obviously, the nuances of long-term character development and a full-season arc are beyond his capabilities.

What's really sad is that "Lost" is sort of operating on the same paradigm as "Angel" was--a character-driven, full season arc-y show with a fantastic premise. And it makes me wonder what would have happened if "Angel" had gotten a shot (with a lot of support and advertising) on one of the major networks instead of the WB, which is known for dreck.

Okay, I saw "Walkabout" and "White Rabbit" yesterday and I definitely like this show. Perhaps even love. It's freakin' awesome how every episode opens with a character opening his eyes. So far, my favorite character is Locke - "Walkabout"'s revelations were surprising and poignant and I love the ending.
