Lessons learned from this process:

agilebrit1. Outlining is awesome.
2. If the outline is borked, go back and fix it. It will save you frustration in the long run.
3. Decide what the monster's going to be BEFORE you finish the outline. If you just decide, oh, I'll figure that out right before I write it, that's a real good way to bork your outline.
4. Having a plan for this process is a Must.
5. Having mini-goals and stretch goals helps. Anyone can write Just Another Hundred Words to get to the next goal.
6. While it's great to have cheerleaders, at the end of the day writing is a solitary pursuit and it's all on you. Sit your ass down at the keyboard and do it.
7. Don't pressure yourself over it. If you get the 50K, great. If you don't, you still have more words than you started with.
8. Sometimes the outline isn't as borked as you think it is. Sometimes it takes minor tweaking rather than huge swathes of rewriting. Simply moving events around, or having a different character perform the needed action, can fix it.
And, today, I dive into edits. Two people have already looked at Angry Bitter Angel, and they both enjoyed it. I need to add a cat and whack words. I am the Queen of Drabbles; surely I can trim this monster down to 17,000 words.
