Apropos of a Fandom Secret.

agilebritI decided to look at my fiction and figure out the male-to-female protag ratio.
I have completed 22 original short stories.
15 have male protagonists.
5 have female protagonists
2 have POVs that swap back and forth
I don't know what it says about me that I'm more comfortable writing in a man's skin than a woman's. Probably that I devoured the Hardy Boys but Nancy Drew left me cold; that the majority of the horse and dog fiction I read in my formative years starred male protags; that the media I consumed had few female role models.
I don't think this makes me self-hating. I'm comfortable in my own skin. I like some girly stuff--I have a handbag fetish that drives the Hubby and the Boy to distraction--although dresses (for the most part) and romance novels leave me cold.
... I dunno. I'm a heterosexual woman. I like men better. *shrug* It's probably not any more complicated than that.
In other news, Outline #6 is in the can and I am now poking through the bunny hutch looking for #7.
