So, yeah, this casefic thing I was hoping would come in at under 5,000 words and be done by the 30th?

It might still be done by the 30th. Maybe. If I can figure out how I'm going to end it.

But I just cracked 6,000 words on it. If it comes in under 10,000? I think I'll call myself "lucky."

But I don't think I want Ben dirtying his hands by killing this guy. This is akin to "taking out the trash" rather than "neutralizing a real threat," and it seems almost beneath him, y'know? I think I'm going to do the Michael Weston thing here and have him manipulate someone else into doing it for him. Yes, we've been watching "Burn Notice" (S2, right now), why do you ask?

The Michael Weston method works exceptionally well. And has the added benefit of the death being due to their own lousy choices.

Considering the circumstances, it's not even a manipulation so much as a pointing a higher-ranking vampire at the guy and pulling the trigger. Mwahaha.

But, as Ben just got done pointing out, he's not the villain. He doesn't kill people who aren't directly threatening him or people he loves.

I do need to figure out what this will cost him (besides any remaining shred of his faith in humanity). Or maybe it won't. Even though this takes place before the new novel, the poor little sod has lost so much already...
