And here's a few shots I got.

The aforementioned anemone (this one was dead, so I kind of posed it):

A Portuguese Man O'War. I had no idea they were blue:

Jellyfish--watch your step!

Laughing Gulls, who love cat food.

Brown Pelicans in flight.

A Ruddy Turnstone. Isn't he cute?

And the dead baby shark. He was about two feet long.

Ooooooo neat pics. Though I'm not sure I wanna know why all these poor creatures washed up to shore.

But pretty pics.

I was thinking about you last week - since the 21st I've seen a merlin in my backyard twice. We're smack dab in the middle of the migration path, but I've lived in the City of Guelph for 13 years and never seen anything other than redtails close to town. This guy was right in my back flowerbed!

That's AWESOME. We got the kestrel on the basketball standard a few times, and we've got a red-tailed hawk that flies overhead every once in awhile, but that's all the birds of prey we ever see right in the neighborhood.

I had no idea that was such a dangerous beach. Seeing a washed up Man O'War would terrify me enough to not get in the water at all.

Awesome pictures!
And those things are why you wear shoes on the beach! =)
Which beach is this by the way?

It's the beach on Mustang Island, north of Padre.

I went barefoot, but I also watched where I was walking. ;)

When I saw the Man O War pic, I was like... so pretty! (In a dangerous sort of way.) Now that I see you took those pics at Mustang Island, I'm mildly disturbed, having spent the better part of a weekend camping trip in the water there, several years back. (Before that trip, I was not aware that the Gulf came in colors other than mucky brown.)

One night, we walked over to the beach from our campsite (promising a quick and bloody death to any mosquito that dared land on us), dug a little pit in the sand, and set about catching crabs to put in it. We named each one. Yes, I was a deeply strange teenager, why do you ask?

But I still think the Man O War is pretty.
