Even though Ben is a werewolf, with Amazing Lycanthrope Healing™, his body still needs resources in order to accomplish that healing. Therefore, after he's suffered a horrific physical trauma, the boy needs to eat.
Yes, this is me, reminding myself that my characters have physical requirements that have to be taken into account. Especially considering what happens in this scene, and what had been done to him before.

Date: 2010-03-02 03:40 am (UTC)Part of my problem is that when Ben is stressed, he loses his appetite. And since he's basically stressed all the freaking time in this thing, getting him to eat isn't easy under the best of circumstances--let alone after he's just gone through...well. What he's just gone through. He probably drops a good fifteen pounds he can ill afford to lose in the first place during his prison stint, poor fellow.

Date: 2010-03-02 07:32 pm (UTC)Fortunately, it hasn't gotten too horrifically bad for him at this point in the story (horrible physical trauma is old hat to him; it's the mental ones he has trouble with), so I manage to get him to eat. In this case, it was just a matter of moving the part where she feeds him to earlier in the scene.
