Guess I need to get my butt in gear and go east of the Mississippi every once in awhile.

create your own personalized map of the USA
or write about it on the open travel guide

Several of these are from my childhood, or from going to Dog Agility trials back in the day, but a whole bunch of them are also zoo trips and places we went on purpose. I didn't count places that we just went through on the way to someplace else, because that would just be lame.

California: San Diego (Sea World, the Zoo), San Francisco Zoo, and a couple of little towns for Agility trials (Dixon was one of them)
Oregon: Portland Zoo
Washington: Olympia, for an Agility trial
Nevada: WriterCon, baby! Also, Vegas when we lived in St. George
Idaho: Used to live in Pocatello; have visited ZooBoise and the Tautphas Park Zoo in Idaho Falls
Utah: I live here
Arizona: Used to live in Yuma; visited two zoos in Phoenix last winter
New Mexico: Albuquerque, for a couple of Agility trials, the zoo, and a Oaxacan carving shop
Colorado: Lived in Colorado Springs as a child; the Hubby is from Pueblo/Beulah, so frequent visits to MIL; Agility trials, and the Denver Zoo
Wyoming: Yellowstone National Park
Montana: Grand Teton National Park; ZooMontana in Billings
South Dakota: Bear Country USA, Reptile Gardens, both in Rapid City
Nebraska: Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. The best zoo I've ever visited, including the San Diego Zoo.
Oklahoma: some cowboy museum or other in Oklahoma City, with a college club.
Texas: Lived in Canyon and Lampasas; parents lived in Arlington; field trips to Mustang Island; San Antonio Zoo
Minnesota: Minnesota Zoo
Wisconsin: the Oshkosh Airshow
Kentucky: lived in Ft. Campbell as a child
Tennessee: visited the Grand Old Opry with parents as a child
Florida: went there on vacation with parents as a child
New Jersey: maternal grandmother lived there; visits as a child
Rhode Island: paternal grandparents lived there; visits as a child
Massachusetts: lived in Ft. Devens as a child
New Hampshire: cousins lived there; visit as a child

Interesting. [grin] To me, anyway.

Historically, we've always counted that if you got out of the car or left the airport, it counted. By that, I've got an all-red map except for Alaska and Arkansas. And I hope to go to Alaska one day. B)

Full disclosure? I flew to Miami International, then connected to Port-au-Prince for a mission trip, flew back, took a taxi-van to Ft. Lauderdale International, then flew back to South Dakota. The trip from airport to airport is why I count Florida. I'll have to do better one day.

Well, in Iowa, someone ran into the back of us at a gas station, and the hubs in the motorhome went out. Not happy memories, so hopefully we'll replace them with better ones some time. Therefore, I don't count Iowa.

We drove from Massachusetts to Florida when I was a kid, but I don't remember where we stopped or what we did. Way too long ago.

It helps that Hubby flies for a commuter airline, so we can go places for free. And then my zoo membership gets us into over 120 other zoos across the country, so we have a reason. :-)
