I have this story. I refer to it as the BeagleFic. Some of you, perhaps, have read it. Perhaps. I don't remember.

Basically, it's a Firefly fanfic with the serial numbers scraped off. And aliens. Totally inspired by Wash saying "Maybe next time we should smuggle those black-market Beagles" in "Safe." I've been subbing it around for three and a half years. It's garnered fourteen rejections, although it managed to pass slush at Baen's.

And rather than continuing to beat my head against the wall, I'm thinking about sticking it up here as a freebie, with a Paypal tipjar.

I can see why you put the poll up - even I sat for a long time trying to figure it out.

You've got some pub credits to your name, and you've sent the BeagleFic to a lot of places. Unless there's somewhere else that really fits as a market, I think you should post it. It's an excellent reason to get a writerly-type marketing website up and running (unless you have one already, in which case I'm 'from Canada, and they think I'm kind of slow, eh?'/Simpson's quote.

I'm currently encouraging my BFF in finding a publisher for her novels and I keep telling her not to give up so I'm going to say the same thing. Keep submitting it...you know Edison had like 99 screwed up lightbulbs before he created one that worked. You may have to go through 99 screwed up people but there may be one out there that loves it. :) So keep going!
