Ben has gone from channelling Rorschach to turning loose his inner smartass.

This...will not end well.

I'm wondering if the Lady!Vamp is going to feel the need to deliver a beatdown.

And how well that will go for her.

Because Ben, while not one to hit a lady, might not feel the same about hitting a vampire, or at least defending himself against one.

And then she'll kiss him.

And he'll hit her again. "NO TOUCHY."

Poor Ben. This is a guy who thrives on contact (Janni's always got a hand on some part of his anatomy if they're in the room together), and yet the only person around him who wants to touch him has ulterior motives. He's told the Lady!Vamp not to touch him at least three times in 8000 words so far.

I'll have to remember to seed that in the beginning (when I finally write the opening scenes of this thing), that he and Janni are always touching each other. It's a subtlety, but if anyone notices it'll bring his isolation just that much more home.
