ROBERT DOWNEY JR GOT AN OSCAR NOMINATION FOR TROPIC THUNDER.

The internet is not large enough to contain my glee at this.

Not that I have any hope that he'll actually win (Saint Heath is a lock for that, I'm afraid), but the fact that Robert got nominated for a role like that (because, OMG) in a category that rarely recognizes comedies is enough for me right now.

In other news, I've done my first read-through of the not!kkbb/im thing and corrected the stuff that bugs me. Now I'm going to go through my little notebook and see what's in there as far as repeated phrases I've noticed and fix those. And then I'll ship it off to y'all. What I'll probably do is save it as both an .rtf and a .doc, send you guys both versions, and then you can pick which one you want to use.

Writing a novel is a hell of a lot of work. No one told me this. I don't even feel like I'm halfway done yet...

Wasn't this the coolest news! I'm sooo happy for Robert. And maybe they'll film something extra for 'Kirk' getting nominated. ;-)

Seriously, when they read the nominations on Oscar night, I'll die laughing if they say "Kirk Lazarus" instead of "Robert Downey, Jr."

I'm pretty sure the Academy doesn't have a sense of humor, though.

LOL! Or better yet have RDJ show up in bleached blonde hair.

But you're right, the Academy doesn't have a sense of humor. Too many old farts in control...

It's alternately hilarious and horrifying. Sometimes at the exact same moment. And since Paramount robbed him of a Best Actor nom by delaying "The Soloist"s release until next year, I guess this is the next best thing.

Oh how I wish Hollywood wouldn't be predictable for once and pick Robert's fabulous performance in Tropic Thunder (a classic in my mind) over Heath Ledger who was good as Joker but not as fabulous as Downey's playing an Aussie playing a black soldier! He was so spot on with all of that! Glad he got nominated at least.

"I'm a lead farmer!" *dies*

I mean, yes, Heath's performance was good. Great, even. But psychos are a dime a dozen, and there was no "nuance" there, really. Robert, on the other hand, wore so many hats in that movie, and wore them all well. He was amazing.

Heathus Christ will not be denied his canonization.

It's totally unfair. RDJ has played way more gay characters than St. Heath.

Doesn't the rule of going full retard apply to going full-psycho too? My friends keep telling me they see Joker and not Heathus Christ.

*not bitter*

I think it is awesome a comedic role was nominated because the Academy usually goes for srs over lol. And Robert did very great work in that, playing about 5 characters! ...Lazarus, O'Malley, Osiris, Vietnamese farmer, Neil Armstrong...

Well, it's a "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"/"Iron Man" thing. So you have Harry and Tony. Only, you know, NOT, because it's not them, per se, but Robert plays Ben and Alex in my head, so there you have it...
