of the "post something that makes you happy."

I'll go for the obvious.

WE'RE HOME.

Good freakin' gawd, y'all.

I love taking vacations. I do. But getting home, especially after a trip like that (twelve hours in a Cessna, over two days. I do not recommend this) is the BEST THING EVER.

Seriously.

The flight plan was useless because we had to deviate so far from it to avoid clouds over the mountains. And then we fought headwinds that were so strong that at one point our groundspeed was something like 30mph.

So, anyway. We're home. *collapses into a puddle of goo*

And now I should wrestle with the ending of the not!kkbb/im story and try to make it not suck.

Welcome home.

Can a plane remain airborne at such a low speed, or is that hyperbole?

Think of it like paddling up a river. You might be paddling like mad and passing through the water at ten miles per hour, but if you look at the riverbank beside you, you might be going backwards. In the case of the airplane, due to downdrafts, the airplane was flying at a hundred knots, but the sixty-five knot headwind lessened our rate across the ground to about thirty-five.

It was heinous.
