So, the Hubby read "A Mess of Pottage"....and he didn't think it did the challenge very well. I guess it would help had I remembered the second part of the challenge, which was to illustrate that, because of the consequences of the Fall, God only has the power on Earth that we humans give Him.
So...debating with myself if I want to rework it and add that in, or call it good and say, hey, "Mustard Seed" illustrates that quite well, thank you. In "Mustard Seed," Spike begins to question his faith because of some quite heinous things that happen to him and his, but in that next to last chapter, he gets everything he prays for: protection for Dru (in the form of angel-ex-machina; sue me), and strength and wisdom for himself. And he still gets an ouchie, but he's basically okay afterwards. So...*sigh*.
Thinking about it, it might not be that hard to add in what the Hubby wanted. I may have to mull it over a bit more, but we'll see what comes out.
