I've turned my werewolf loose on a bunch of terrorists, after not!Tony's GPS gambit has actually failed in this version of events.

Yeah, they're dead.

And now I'm wondering if this is the "obvious" payoff, because damn if she didn't go through them like tissue paper. I don't care if you've got automatic weapons, if you're firing them in panic mode as a wolf the size of a pony comes at you, most of your rounds are going into the ceiling. And if you don't have silver bullets, a werewolf might be annoyed, but it won't be mortally wounded. As pissed as she is, she won't even notice.

So, the whole thing just struck me as being, well, too easy, drill sergeant.

The big challenge in this scene was writing it from the wolf POV.

And now I have to decide if she needs to bite him to save him...

Hmm. I'm kind of wondering. Do they work her over like they do not!Tony but she heals? What if the rescue gambit doesn't fail but they get there after not!Pepper has made Purina out of the terrorists?

In this iteration, she gets to slaughter the terrorists and call in the cavalry. And of course they get there and she's covered in blood that isn't hers...

Makes for some interesting questions.

That's a great riff to work off of!

And what if this is a different flavor of werewolf? Maybe some of those terrorists have something that will actually HARM the werewolf?

Or, try the Velkan family giant dog crate, but do it right - w/o the breaky ropes and smashing cage thing?

I've got the head guy wearing a silver ring, which hurts her when she bites his hand, but other than that she's pretty unstoppable. At that point all it does is piss her off more. The mundanes are so not ready to deal with anything like her.

I'm nearly ready to post the new version. Very last scene is all that needs tweaking...

Well, if she bites the leader dude's hand - does that turn him into a werewolf or does she eat him later?

I tend to ascribe to the 'at least one thing has to go wrong' theory in scenes like that - the werewolf should have one major fuck up in the course of the fight and the 'bad guys' should get in, at least, one good shot on the 'good guy'.

Oh, she rips his face off and his throat out right then. She just wants to hurt him first, and his hand is handy. ;)

Well, that's no fun. Even the bad guys smacked the A-Team once or twice. ;)

Hm. *ponders the use of a tazer on a werewolf*

Have to be one kick-ass tazer. Going by the patient on House who had rabies and the tazer did almost nothing.

There is also the possibility of coming up with your own werewolf legend. Take the standard and give it a twist - sort of like what Jim Butcher did.

Maybe I'll have some emotional fallout to this instead. Taking a human life, even a human who deserves it as much as these guys do, should never be an easy thing.

Hee! Snag away. :)

I'm up to nearly 15,500 now... Finally tweaking the last scene so there's a little more emotion, a little more fallout.

Jayne is my main man. Well, when he's not being eclipsed by Tony. Alas, brains over brawn.

I may have to split the new version into two entries...

She shouldn't be the size of a pony. If it's realistic fantasy, where the laws of physics operate as they do in the real world, she should be the size of Not!Pepper. The energy required to change her mass would be - literally - astronomical. Only her form would change and the mass would remain constant.
