Remind me again why I should vote in this primary?

I just heard that 84% of Utah Republicans favor Mitt Romney.

DUDE.

Okay, yes, I was going to vote for him anyway, and I assumed that he'd win Utah in a landslide (for more reasons than just the fact that he's LDS; I think the Olympics have a lot to do with his popularity here as well), but I didn't think it would be by that much.

Ah, Fred. We hardly knew ye.

I hope there's still a chance to vote against John McCain when my state has it's primary.

Me too. Argh. When's your primary?

May. Back when primaries are supposed to occur. This whole process started six months early for no good reason I can tell.

Everyone apparently wanted to be OMGFIRST!!! The entire Silly Season started way too early this time...and we're sticking a fork in it way too early too. We've had, what, two or three primaries and the media is annointing McCain? Please.

And the fact that the mainstream media is gaga over this guy should be sending up a huge red flag to conservatives everywhere. *shakes head*

The NYTimes endorsement was the last nail in his coffin, in my opinion.

*gags* No kidding. Medved is on crack on this one. I get where he's coming from re: War on Terrorism, and I'll give him credit for being a budget hawk, but that doesn't justify any of McCain's other stands on issues, and the fact that he basically used the Constitution as toilet paper with McCain/Feingold.

That's exactly the phrasing I've been using for McCain/Feingold!

Beyond all the specific "because of this, I wouldn't trust you to hold my wallet while I played basketball" issues, and the "You wipe your ass with my most-cherished secular document" issues, I don't think senators, or legislators in general, come into the presidency with the right mindset, and they suck at being administration. So, between two otherwise-acceptable candidates, I would always choose the not-senator. So, with Senators McCain, Clinton and Obama in the running, I was leaning to the mayor (until his planning sucked eggs) and now, I guess, the governer.

K listens to Medved when she comes to pick me up after work. My goodness, doesn't he carry water for McCain? That's what bending over backwards sounds like.

More like being bent over a table and taking it up the...

BOHICA!

(Semi-)seriously, he might be over the table. He might be lubed. I might be holding onto this metaphor far to long, and I have no intention of making this RPF slash. But he's not being bent. Nobody bent him. He bent himself.

Word.

This whole thing is making me so ill. I don't get to vote until April 22nd, and by then, McCain's name will be the only one on the ballot. It bites.

Come November, I'm really going to have a hard time voting for someone I can't support -- on either side of the fence.

OMG, yes, but yet, he's won the majority of states so far in Super Tuesday. I just want to cry.

It's just terrible, in my opinion. The media are trying to choose the nominees. Also -- and I hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings here -- something is going on with Huckabee and McCain. I think Huckabee is staying in to pull from Mitt and hope to be on McCain's cabinet, if he's elected.

this poll is probably right. but you should never trust polls. and it's your patriotic duty to vote and all that.

Fred? who is that? i don't recall a person named Fred running for President.

Fred Thompson.

And I'll go vote, since I'm going to be out today anyway...and I probably would even if I wasn't going to be out. It just feels kinda useless.

I love Mitt! I voted this morning. But, dude, 84%, huh? WOW!

Welcome to Utah, where the population is something like 70% LDS and Mitt saved our Olympics from being a total fiasco! :)

And he pulled Massachusetts out of a huge deficit, and turned around a failing company. He's an awesome businessman -- just the guy to balance our nation's budget!

He's also proved that he can work with an opposition Congress. Which...I'm not sure that's a good thing, since I believe that the whole "New Tone" means "Caving In On Important Issues," but hopefully Mitt will be more willing to wield the Veto Pen of Doom than Bush has been. I'm sick and tired of "bipartisanship" meaning "Democrats get everything they want and Republicans can stick it."
