I just got an email in the account that's been moribund for three days.

And it's a scam email from Citibank, telling me that it's urgent that I click on the link and verify my information or my account might *gasp* be closed!

Yeah. I don't bank with Citibank.

FAIL.

Hopefully that means that my email is unclogged. They're moving servers. I may email *that one place* and tell them to please email me at the gmail account, since I really don't have any confidence in my ISP that they'll handle the move in a prompt and competent manner.

In other news, I'm reading Bitterwood, by James Maxey. It's about a war between humans and the dragons that enslave them. The worldbuilding is rich, the characters engaging, the story interesting.

Just one problem.

It's reins, people, when you're discussing the things that riders use on horses and ox-dogs. Not reigns. And they make this error every single time. I kid you not.

That's one of the spelling mistakes that drives this horsey type person crazy. Sheesh, get a dictionary, won't you!
I've had those kind of scammy emails too..do I look stupid? don't answer that, lol

I could understand it if the error was made one time in the book. No one catches every error. But it's like someone looked at "reins," decided it was wrong, and did a find-and-replace for every instance. It's sloppy editing, and it makes me want to slap whoever did it.

When I get a scam email purporting to be from a company I actually do business with (like eBay or Paypal), it's kind of par for the course. It's when I get one from a company that I've never done business with, or haven't for fifteen years, that I roll my eyes so hard they nearly fall out of my head.

And I swear, I'm going to beat my ISP over this email thing... Now I'm getting a "this page cannot be displayed" error on my inbox--while the sidebar is displaying just fine. ARGH.

Oops!

I'll take the responsibility for that. As you may surmise, riding horses and ox-dogs is outside of my normal realm of activities so I was simply unaware of the linguistic subtlety, as were the proof readers, apparently. If there are any reins in the sequel I'll make sure they are properly spelled. For what it's worth, in my memory of the book, the ox-dogs and the horses with riding gear mostly appear in the first few chapters. This particular typo should distract you less as the story moves forward.

When homonyms attack! It's okay, the book is good enough that I can overlook it. I'm finding it very interesting what you're doing with religion in this and can't wait to see where it goes. :)

At least they're consistent?

Well, not quite. I've now finished the book, and it's correct once. LOL
