The Muses (both Antubis and Flaubert) have apparently left not just the building, but the country. They're gone, man. They might be dead. Which would make me cry.

I have no ideas. No inspiration. Nothing is twanging my banjo.

The deadline for the next round of Writers of the Future is looming (Sept 30). I've got about six weeks to bang out something new and awesome for that. The Books Gone Bad story is completely stalled, the Stuff That Thing fic has died an ugly death, and the Dragon Cattle Barons story (oh, god, don't ask) has been moribund in the corner since March.

You'd think that a possible sale *refreshes inbox again* might perk up the Muses. Usually a change of scenery (ala our Seattle trip) makes them come out of hiding.

*sigh* I'd love to do something with time travel. Or dinosaurs. Or time-traveling dinosaurs. Or Lepidopterus rex.

Alas, and woe. I have nothing. *settles into a puddle of depression*

Wikipedia hopping again, possibly? I remember you mentioned that and thought it was a cool idea. :D I just read Porphyria's Lover for the first time, because someone had just written a small short story based on it, I guess sort of poetry fanfic. :P

At least the last time I went Wiki-hopping, I had a starting point and a reason to do it. Of course, the story that inspired that bit of Wiki-hopping is sitting here on my hard drive, giggling madly at me. >:(

Don't despair! Possibly you're trying too hard. I'm betting that if you pay attention to something else your muses will attack you with things which must be written.
