*facepalm*
Aug. 8th, 2007 04:48 pmAs I sit here and obsessively refresh my inbox, and contemplate the very OMG red redness of my hair (which we colored this morning, because it's a mousy brown color shot with entirely too much white), I was going to add more to the Seattle Diary. I fixed up some pix and started uploading them and everything.
Then I realized that I've uploaded them to the wrong Photobucket folder. *headdesks*
So, y'all are going to have to wait a bit longer for butterflies and other stuff.
And Photobucket seems to be stalled uploading at 14 of 20 pix. *cries*
I've got very mixed emotions about LJ right now. I was one of those going "I'm not jumping ship, why don't you people just stop posting underage porn fergoshsakes." However, in light of the fact that they're cracking down on fictional character porn (which harms no one), but seem to think that pro-anorexia comms (which are damned dangerous) are just hunky-dory...
*sighs and mumbles*
Yeah.

Yeah.

Date: 2007-08-09 07:40 am (UTC)As for the stay/go choices - my feelings about the whole thing are very like yours - if I never accidentally bump into Harry/Dumbeldore/Snape/Dobby or whatever it can only be an advantage, from my point of view.
But the way 6A handle such things is not good; the fact that they are totally obliterating people's journals, so that they cannot access their own entries if they have no back up, apparently cannot even easily get in touch with their friends to let them know why they have disappeared and so on, is scary.
And their insistence that it is all to do with Californication laws leaves a nasty taste when they don't seem to be doing anything about the pro-self-harming groups - which would seem to be illegal under Californian laws too, if things on journals are seen as encitement to carry out any act.
The thing that actually does worry me is that the user base is dropping - before this, according to figures I saw referenced yesterday - and so there is likely to be less advertising income coming in, and less money from paying customers if comments on my FL are anything to go by. I can see 6A deciding that this enterprise is not worth continuing and closing the whole site.
I don't intend to leave LJ until it disappears, or every one of my FL have stopped making entries. However, I think it is likely that I will also start to use the IJ that my husband has paid for for me, because that's where some of my friends are now posting their main entries.
