Saw the Transformers movie last night. It was double-featured with Evan Almighty at the drive in, so we thought we'd toddle over and see it.
And it was pretty cool. We were thoroughly entertained. Just...leave your brain at the door, because it's monumentally stoopid. More stoopid than the new Die Hard movie. They'd make a great double feature together. Big dumb action movies with big dumb plots and big dumb set-pieces. I liked the Die Hard movie better.
FWIW, Da Boy (who is six) enjoyed Transformers as well. We were hesitant about letting him watch it because, you know...scary robots doing a lot of property destruction and people getting hurt, but he thought it was really cool and thinks we should buy the DVD. We told him to save his money. *snerk*
Evan Almighty was just as awesome the second time around. More so--because there are anteaters at the end that I didn't notice on the first viewing. *flails*

We're gearing up for the Seattle trip. I checked the weather, and the highs are going to be somewhere around 75. This is 25 degrees cooler than what we're getting here in SLC. We might need jackets! Hee!
And Da Boy just came in and informed us that there was a garter snake in our front yard. Lo and behold, there was! It went into the bushes before I could get a pic of it, though. This is the second snake we've seen in our yard; the other one was in the back. HOW COOL IS THAT???

Date: 2007-07-18 05:59 pm (UTC)Oh, quick restaurant recommendation, assuming you like seafood. Of course there's always Ivar's Acres of Clams, but if you want a sit-down place that's not just a meal, but an experience, then I HIGHLY recommend The Crab Pot. There's one right down on the waterfront in downtown Seattle... and I also recommend that you order The Westport. It's one of their Seafeasts and you have to have at least two of you getting it... but they put butcher paper down, bring you each a wood block and a mallet and dump the food in the middle of the table. From the online menu (hence the allcaps): "DUNGENESS CRAB, SNOW CRAB, SHRIMP IN THE SHELL, STEAMED CLAMS & PACIFIC MUSSELS, ANDOUILLE SAUSAGE, CORN ON THE COB & RED POTATOES IN THEIR JACKETS." It's messy, but oh so yummy.

Date: 2007-07-18 06:57 pm (UTC)Is theret a good day for us all to get together. The days look pretty full, but most of the stuff we're doing shuts down at something like six, so we're free in the evenings from the 21st to the 24th.
