Oh, those little black spots in some of the pix? Not a fault in the picture. Those are BRINE FLIES, dudes. Billions upon billions of brine flies. They don't bite, but, damn, it's creepy and disturbing to walk through them, nevertheless.

In other news, because yesterday would have been an even more rousing success had we been able to see the birds WAY out in the pond, we bought a Spotting Scope today. We're going jeeping tomorrow, and taking it with us. SHINY.

I love the avocets - they are such stylish birds. That is a very majestic looking bison too. your spider pics are wonderful - even though i really don't like spiders!

As for brine flies - I hate walking amongst them even though I know they are harmless - it's the fear of breathing them in, or one flying into my mouth if I open it to speak!
