Well, the Hubby popped open his race motor today to see why it was running like crap, and found this:



For the untutored, that thing in the red circle? Is a valve cover. And no, it's not supposed to be imbedded there. He's lucky it hit that way instead of at an angle, or it would have done far more damage than it did to the sides of the cylinder.

Staring at the Pottage monster. Wondering if a vampire can pass out from blood loss. [poking flist] Any opinions on that matter would be appreciated.

Guess I didn't raise you completely. That is the valve minus the stem. That's what closes off the opening. Was it intake or exhaust? Valve cover is the long thing that runs down the top of the engine front to back covering the valve springs, arms, etc.
