I've figured out...

Why the Astrobiology and the Sacred story is being such a butthead.
They're in an art museum.
This requires much description.
As aforementioned (many many many many times)...
I SUCK AT DESCRIPTION.
Argh.
I've got about a week and a half to beat this thing into some sort of semblance of shape. They need to have it in their hands by June 15. And I still have no idea how I'm going to end this thing. *cries*
Well. I'm going to be hanging out with a bunch o' writers this weekend. Maybe that'll shake something loose.
PS. I'm thinking about making this my default icon. I sure am using it a lot...

Date: 2007-05-24 03:52 pm (UTC)Imagine if the art museum had nothing in it - or that its displays were all merely so many grey foam blocks. Ignoring how weird that would be, how then would you describe the place? Spotlit gloom and echoing shadows, floorboards underfoot and ductwork overhead. Unless the artwork has some direct connection to the story, ignore it. Keith Laumer once described a place as having "wallpaper that was someone's revenge for life's disappointments." That was all he said - and all that was needed!
