Made me do a little dance this morning.

It's been ages since I've seen 132. It's still far from what I consider ideal, but I'm making progress in the right direction. Yay!

And I get to try my hand at making Shrimp Etouffee today, which gives my mouth a happy. Yay again!

Part of my weight-loss problem stems from the fact that I loathe exercise. You know that "runner's high" everyone talks about? I don't get that. All I feel after vigorous exercise is drained, and not in a good way. And I also resent the time it takes because I have other things I'd rather be doing.

However, I've discovered an interesting thing. Water, for me, is apparently the secret. I used to go through about a two-liter bottle of diet soda a day. No calories, right, so what could the harm be? Well, apparently it does something to my body chemistry, because I've started cutting myself off the pop after lunch and switching to straight water, and the pounds have been slowly but steadily coming off.

I've lost somewhere around six pounds since I started doing that a couple of months ago. Sometimes I fall off the wagon and pig out on junk food, or we go out to eat, and I gain a couple back, but they come back off, which makes a nice change from before.

What a terrific way to start the day. :)

I've actually read that the chemicals in diet pop can actually prohibit weight loss. You are the first real person who has been able to confirm that though.

Neat!

I can't bring myself to give it up completely, alas, because it's bad enough that my poor tongue is suffering the slings and arrows of eating hardly anything at all along with NOT eating the junk food I love.

Eight more pounds, man. Just eight more...

I've read that Nutrasweet actually retards weight loss. Water is always a good choice.

When do you exercise? I do it first thing in the morning and that seems to help me with the feeling drained problem. I used to resent the time too, until I started watching series while I ran on the treadmill.

I tried the "first thing in the morning" thing, and it just makes me feel drained for the rest of the day. Now that the weather's turned nice again, we do an hour-long walk around four in the afternoon. When it starts getting really hot, we'll probably go first thing in the morning. I read while I'm on the bike, but the fact that I'm exercising at the same time takes some of the pleasure out of it.

Yeah, I've heard that water is the best thing ever, but I just don't like the stuff very much. However, this experiment has been very enlightening.

Yeahs! Way to go. You know giving up soda and drinking water helped me quite a bit too. I heard John Tesh on his radio program say something about soda screwing w/ your body's chemistry so it processes calories weird. Interesting, no? ;)
