agilebritI'm going to say something controversial again.
With all the news about the abuse of the Iraqi prisoners, and the reaction to it, the difference between us and the Islamo-fascists has never been clearer:
We find out that some of our soldiers are abusing (not torturing--there's a difference) prisoners, and the self-flagellation never ceases. There are calls for Rumsfeld to resign, for full-scale investigations, and on, and on, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.
They fly airplanes into buildings, or kill a pregnant Israeli woman and her four daughters...and there's dancing in the streets and praise for the perpetrators.
Yes. There is us, and there is them...and we're better than they are.

Date: 2004-05-09 01:59 am (UTC)The media act like this has never been done before by service men, they've been doing things like this for ages. My husband was in the marine corp for 12 years, I have heard scads and scad of tales of the stuff military men do, some even worse than this, my husband didn't participate, he was just a spectator.
Do you mind if I friend you? We have similar interests.
