The Merc&theSnake fic has a "the end" at the bottom. It's a little over 3500 words.

Now I just have to beat it into shape before Saturday so I can send it to WotF. I'll probably post it later for the Concrit Group, after I poke it awhile longer.

See what I mean about a deadline concentrating the mind wonderfully?

...How do you get/find the time to write all these stories? I'm lucky to turn out a fanfic every several months, these days. (I blame college, but still.)

I'm at home full time, my child is an independent little cuss, and I'm a terrible housekeeper. Yesterday, I holed myself up in my bedroom for several hours until I'd banged out a good portion of the thing, and then finished it off at Starbucks after my Writing Buddy (snarking_boojum) left.

My output has slacked off, I think, since I've started writing original fiction. Creating my own worlds and characters from scratch comes harder. This one taking less than a week from "So. I'm dead" to "the end" is an aberration.
