Cats are people, right?

The White Cat lies on her side--always the left side--and pets herself sensuously on my hand. A purr avalanches through the phlegm in her chest, and her claws prick me as they glide in and out of their sheathes. Her slanted green eyes stare at me wisely from under the patch of beige fur that half-covers the right one and travels partway up that ear. Do you know what I know? That marvelous tail, sepia with a white tip, twitches back and forth. She hugs my hand with her front feet, pink pads like pink pearls, rubbing her lips and nose on it and love-biting me between my thumb and forefinger--not too hard; she knows that humans are fragile. Her stiff white whiskers are a counterpoint to that soft belly fur I could bury myself in forever.

All too soon, the sensations become too much for her. She becomes wild, laying her ears back, kicking with her back paws, biting just a little harder. But before she gets to the point where she gets in trouble (and she knows exactly where that point is), she leaps from the couch and sits facing away from me, the brown-gray spot on her back in stark contrast to the clean whiteness of the rest of her body. She licks her side furiously, once, twice, then stands and makes a dignified exit from the room, her tail the exclamation point on the experience.

Yeah, that's pretty urple, if I say so myself. This is why I don't like writing description.

Ummmm, I'm sure it wasn't MEANT to evoke this type of response, but the only thing I could think of while reading that was the line from The Truth About Cats and Dogs...

"It's okay to love your pets, just don't love your pets."

Lol of course, that response could also be due to the fact that my body is definitely nocturnal and this getting up at 0630 is kicking my ass so feel free to ignore everything I say lol

Well, a lot of cats are self-petting, but I've never seen one get into it the way this one does. And then the other one, the Gray Cat, is all "Oh, no, do not touch me with your filthy hands. PET ME WITH YOUR FEET."

LOL that's AWESOME! My cat is frakking weird too. I always say he's a dog in a cat suit b/c he begs and wants you to pet him ALL the time, he's very demanding. He'll stand up on his back legs and grab at your hand and stuff if he feels you should be petting him and you're not lol. I love cats, they so rule. :) My friend submissivecharms's cats are foot fetishists as well. If I try to pet them with my hands, they duck around them and head straight for my feet whether I'm wearing shoes or not! Soooo weird lol.

Well, I've now been owned by three cats in my life, and I've decided that there's no such thing as a "normal" cat. All three of them have had completely different personalities, including the two who were raised together from teeny tiny kittens.

The Gray Cat will stand there and meow at you until you take your shoes off, then flop over onto your feet. Such a weirdo.

Yes, but anyone with a cat will recognize every bit of it. Description is extremely hard. I can do dialogue all day without breaking a sweat.
