Worst. Episode. Ever.
I freely admit that I have a bias on the topic of abortion. And this bias is based on my own experience and the experience of a friend I had in college, and a whole lot of research. I also realize that other people do not share my bias. But...dammit. Dude, that just sucked. I loathe knee-jerk reactions to pregnant rape victims. Here, dear, justkill it oops, can't say that, sorry, I mean terminate the pregnancy, and that will make your life all better. It's the easy solution. Really.
Only...it's not. Ever.
The episode would have been far better had they just left it ambiguous. Or at least brought up the remotest possibility of giving the child up for adoption and bringing a family on a ten-year waiting list a lot of joy. But that option is hardly ever brought up; it's always a choice between "terminating a pregnancy" and "ruining your life."
Ugh.
