We're back from our extended vacation. The dog is happy to see us, the cats are sulking, and Da Boy is playing with his Playmobile Pirate Ship that Grandma and Grandpa gave him.

We still need to figure out what we're going to do with our own Christmas. For obvious reasons, we didn't want to haul the loot we're giving each other 1200 miles (not to mention the fact that I haven't even shopped for the Hubby yet; I fail *sobs*), so we're...still deciding. And I'm lusting after the new wireless mouse that I can't have yet...

Had a lovely visit with all the families, shot all kinds of photos at the Ft Worth Zoo and the Dallas World Aquarium. TOUCANS, BABY. I also scored a couple of 512K thumb drives for $10 each--man, I love those things.

I also have 1800 words of "we're transporting dragon eggs, oops they hatched" fic for the intrepid crew of the Inquisitive Tamandua. Yes, I named the ship in my "scraped off the serial numbers" Firefly fic after a kind of anteater. Shut up.

There's no way I can catch up with the flist; I hope you all had a happy holiday and are well.

Man, it's good to be home.

Good to see you back! Sounds like you had a good time so that's what counts. :)

As far as your shopping goes, you don't fail, you were just waiting for the awesome after holiday sales so you could make your money go further! *nods confidently*

And also, I'm sure that naming the ship that will help appease anubis and make flaubert squee. ;)

*snerks* Well, the stuff I wanted to get him didn't go on sale, alas. But I got what I intended to get him today, and Da Boy is shopped for as well, so we're good, I think.

*eyes wreck in living room* I suppose I should get this mess cleaned up...

Well, shopping is DONE now, and his widget wasn't on sale, alas. But I think we were both VERY successful in getting each other what we wanted to get each other, although he is VERY hard to shop for. A power washer, a bag of socks, and all the mint M&Ms he could eat was the best I could do for him, whereas he is totally made of awesome and got me all KINDS of neato things. *sigh* Men...

I'm lucky. My guy is pretty easy to shop for. I just wish there was enough money to get him everything he wants. Amazon wish lists make everything easier.

Ft. Worth Zoo is awesome, especially the giant tank for the giant fish in the aquarium (do they still have that?), and the primate area, and the reptile house, and, that one time they did the dinosaur exhibit, and, and.... There's practically no-one there on Thanksgiving (or possibly the day after), but they're open, so you can walk all around and not run into crowds at all. I used to live in Ft Worth, and when we moved to Houston, I thought, "Hey, bigger city, bigger and better zoo!" Oh, how wrong I was....

/Trip down memory lane

Did Da Boy enjoy the zoo, I hope?
