Adam Baldwin? Is made of Awesome and Win.

As most of the Whedonites on my flist probably know by now, Flanvention2 was cancelled. Today. It was slated to begin Tomorrow. Thus leaving many people hanging. Some folks are coming from overseas, and thus will land at the airport not knowing that this event is Pushing Up Daisies.

However, Adam? Showed up tonight anyway. Whether he'll hang out tomorrow, or any of the other talent will come, is an open question. The awesome SoCal and SF Browncoats are trying to put something together, but BE didn't even notify the hotel that they were cancelling, so it's been difficult for them to negotiate space, plus there's liability issues as well.

As far as I know, the only notification has come via BE's website. No one's gotten so much as an email or a phone call from them. "Unforeseen circumstances." *snorts* Yeah, RIGHT. And I'm going to win this quarter's Writers of the Future.

Speaking of which ...

MiniMe: Dude, that was a totally graceless segue.
Me: Shut up.
MiniMe: Totally graceless. Call yourself a writer?
Me: Shut up. *thwacks*

...I sent the BeagleFic off to them today. Late February, or early March, should hear something. If I hear something sooner? That would be bad.

That's - well, I hope that's unusual behavior. It makes BE out to be a bunch of teenage losers. Didn't even notify the hotel? There'd better be a darned good reason for this...

Writers of the Future! Yay!

Apparently BE was organized so that the ladies (I use the term loosely) running it could meet their favorite celebs. They had a couple of cons that were (apparently) financial disasters, and they used the money from the sold-out Flanvention to bolster them...and here we are.

They posted a note on the website last week that Flan might not go, then they said, Yay, we got financing...and fast forward to today, the day before the con, and it's a no-go. BAD.

Darned good reason? Yeah, they're morons when it comes to money.

*wibbles* Sending WotF the BeagleFic seems like such a huge step, you know? And I probably won't get anything but a "thanks for playing, try again next quarter," but at least I tried.

Oh, he is indeed! What sort of unforeseen circumstances make you cancel the day before the convention? That's a lot of cash thrown out the window in addition to tons of frustrated, disappointed people.

Good luck on Writers of the Future!

Well, considering the fact that they were talking cancellation last week, and then popped up with, "Oh, we got funding, everything's peachy keen, come on down!" ... this was hardly unforeseen. But to cancel it at this late hour when it's too late to cancel the hotel room without penalty is so not on.

The BeagleFic is as good as I can make it. If WotF doesn't want it, it's going to SF&F magazine next. They've been complaining that they don't get enough humor fics.
