The Ariel Ambulance is back in Vegas, we made it home in one piece, and I have an origi-fic plot bunny that I'm going to blame squarely on Ken Rand.

Who is Ken Rand, you ask? He's the author of "From Idea to Story in 90 Seconds," and one of the actual ideas in the book spawned a bunny that I'm now going to write. He probably didn't intend for a story involving "horse needs clothes" to be written, but, by golly, that's what Antubis and Flaubert want to write, and so I shall. I still haven't decided how far I'm going to take this thing, but it should at least be interesting by the time it's done. This will be the first original thing I've done (not counting the dreck I wrote in high school) with no connections to any fic I've written. Completely my own 'verse, own characters, the whole shebang. Of course it has an animal in it. Need you even ask?

Wish me luck.

Hey! I know Ken!!! Which is probably not surprising, since once upon a time I was fairly active in fandom in Utah... and he used to come down for the Symposium every year (probably still does).

I was really wishing I could have gone to MountainCon, especially after I heard the news about the Ariel Ambulance being there!

*searches for this Symposium of which you speak*

Ooooo. *makes plans to attend* Thanks!

Cameron says he thinks the Ambulance is going to be fully restored in about six months, and after that, it'll start touring the country. So maybe it'll be in your area sometime. :) You can go here for updates.

Oh! You hadn't known about the Symposium?!? It's usually a lot of fun, though not really anything like a standard convention -- much more academic (which can be it's own kind of fun). I actually ran LTUE 9 back in, um, 1991? Wow. Time sure does fly!

Spiffy!!! Thanks!

Yah, we're home

Welcome home! And at LAST, you are going to step into the water and write an original story. I knew it was coming, and I'm so glad it's here. I think you will find that you will get even MORE satisfaction for it being all yours--all original with you! Good luck, and remember, I'm happy to be a reader!

Love, Mom

This'll be the second thing for publication, but the first thing I wrote for publication was a "scraping off the serial numbers" thing. It'll be interesting to see where this particular plot bunny hops. My brain is a strange and scary place sometimes...

Very good luck! Hey, there are advantages to original fic too. :)
