The good:
  • My back is WAY better. Still not a hundred percent, but I can move (mostly) freely again.
  • I wrote 265 words in my [livejournal.com profile] friend_fic yesterday after having a slight breakthrough the night before. This doesn't seem like much, but, trust me, considering the fact that it's been darn near a week since I've written anything at all, it's definitely a thing for the "good" column.
  • I finished Jim Butcher's "Academ's Fury" this morning. *kermitflail* ZOMG, the man can write.
  • My new laptop cooler should be here Monday.
  • The seller for my Angel Scriptbooks finally got back to me after I filed with Paypal wondering where the hell they are. I got an email from him yesterday telling me that they're on their way. I'll believe it when they're in my hot little hands.

The bad:
  • The weather blows, man. We got snow in the mountains yesterday.
  • I really have no idea where the [livejournal.com profile] friend_fic is going. At all.

The ugly:
  • My scale told me this morning that I weigh 12 pounds more than I want to. Ugh.

And even though the good apparently outweighs the bad and the ugly, numerically...I'm still grouchy as hell because of what the scale said. *sigh*

Being grouchy as hell because of the scales is one of those weird things isn't it? We let them decide our mood for the day - and then being happy if we get down by the pound that we were so distressed to have gone up by last week!

Glad your back is improving - mine has been acting up in sympathy with yours I think - but whilst I have had trouble getting out of bed in the morning it has at least eased a bit during each day, so not as bad as yours.

I never wanted to be one of those women whose mood is determined by what the scale says, but by golly, I am. Grawr.

::hugs:: Be careful with your back. If it's acting up in the morning, don't overdo stuff. I just spent a solid hour cleaning my kitchen (because not being able to move for a month makes the house go to hell), and I think I may have set it back a bit again. *headdesks*

OH, the "other" Jim Butcher series is good then? I adore his Dresden Files, but I've been reluctant to get into his other series (not being a HUGE fantasy/sci-fi fan and it sounded a bit Conan-esque). But I do adore most of the good fantasy reads or movies, so go figure.

Anything you can compare it to? Do you highly recommend it?

I VERY highly recommend it. I've not read the fantasy genre for quite some time, so I can't really compare it to anything, but his characters are compelling, the action is just great, and his world-building is made of awesome. Even though he's got tons of characters and they're really FAT books, I didn't get anyone confused with anyone else, and I was able to keep track of who everyone was. And that right there? Is WIN.

I might have to break down and finally read them then. Thanks for the recommendation!

Glad to hear that about your back. My hubby just threw his out this morning, bending down to put a dish in the dishwasher. Ouch.

Snow you say? I would love to see snow! Of course, I live in a desert essentially. It hasn't snowed here since 1949.

The stat I've heard is that 80% of people have back problems. So if a person doesn't have trouble, they're very very lucky.

Bah on the snow. As long as it stays in the mountains, I'm fine with it, but snow in the mountains means rain the valley this time of year...which I also don't like, even though we can use it. *is grouchy*

Yeah, walking upright has its disadvantages...like back troubles. Most people have less than perfect posture, too. Also, if you want a strong back, you have to have strong abdominal muscles..it's all connected.
My back is sore tonight too...I vacuumed my friend's house in preparation for her return, and her vacuum cleaner is a really heavy sucker. Her house is wall to wall carpets, too. Ouch.
Glad your back is getting better!

Now, we have to wait for the next installment. There are so many lose ends. Finally, we are told that the Aunt is really the Mother. I KNEW that! It was a good book, and I enjoyed the characters immensely. Usually book #2 can be slow because it is setting up for the big finale, but this book was great. Good read.

I know what you mean about the scale. When you're so close to your ideal weight it's almost impossible to take even a pound off so those 12 pounds look insurmountable. Now that your back isn't hurting as badly, maybe some light, no marathon bike sessions, exercise can help.

Hope the day goes better for you.
