Booking travel online...

the day you're traveling?
NOT RECOMMENDED.
Holy crap. I got it done, but...holy crap.
Anyway. The Hubby is off to Iowa to pick up our airplane. Without me. I'm lying on the couch with ice under my back. I'm tired and frustrated and in pain and grouchy as hell. The ScruffDogFic sucks. Da Boy is whiny.
Can I just go back to bed and start this entire last week over?
I may post the ScruffDogFic for tearing apart, Writer's Workshop style. Maybe some of you guys (yes, I'm looking at you,
justmalea,
mandylancast,
nodrogg, and
aadler_, specifically, although you're certainly under no obligation) can beat it into something resembling a work that's actually good. Or maybe I'll post it at
ficconcrit. Or maybe I'll print it out and use it as birdcage liner.
Meh.

Date: 2006-08-29 09:11 pm (UTC)Go ahead! Bearing in mind, what I know of the JossVerse could be wadded up and balanced on an inverted cafeteria coffee cup... but for crit of the story as such, this might be A Good Thing. Or at all events an Irrelevant Thing.
I recommend aspirin until your ears ring, then vodka until you don't hear them. Don't do this on an empty stomach.

Date: 2006-08-29 09:14 pm (UTC)It just...GAH. I don't feel like there's a payoff to it, you know?

Yes, actually, I do. My friend Joy and I were talking about that. She writes fanfic, but seldom bothers to finish it - just like me. After all, what is the point of it?I figure, it keeps the brain limber. Yah, it's juvenile - but what the heck. People do Star Trek MUSHes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUSHes), and that has to be the very definition of "arrested development."
[Aside from serious comic-book collectors. Get a life, will ya?]

Date: 2006-08-29 11:26 pm (UTC)Some people make good money writing tie-in novels, which are nothing more than glorified fanfic. I was referring to the fact that, in most of my fics, there's a punch at the end, which, to me, is the "payoff." This one ends with a whimper, not a bang. I certainly don't expect to be able to get the same oomph out of everything that I got out of the ReaverFic, but some sort of actual point would be nice. *is still grouchy, although my back feels better now that I've been to the chiropractor*

Date: 2006-08-29 09:35 pm (UTC)I'm probably just going to post the fic for a public flogging, because that's easy and I'm much with the laziness today. :)

Date: 2006-08-30 07:35 am (UTC)Post or email or something? If it's giving you that much trouble, you definitely need some fresh eyes on it. I haven't been able to work lately, so maybe I could be of service. :)
