Um, no.

Just got a call from someone purporting to be from some medical insurance company or other saying I applied for some-damn-thing back in March that would give me discounts on stuff that our regular insurance doesn't pay for. She said I would have done this at a doctor's office or pharmacy.

We have no prescriptions. I can't even remember the last time I went to the doctor, but I'm pretty sure I didn't go in March. So, basically, she had me confirm my address and date of birth and then said they were going to send me this thing...and charge me $30 a month for it.

Dude. We don't spend $360 a year on our medical expenses as it sits. We are disgustingly healthy people. She tried to tell me that I must have applied for it, because that's how they get their info, but I told her I didn't want anything to do with it. I think I just avoided being scammed.

In other news, I voted in the Republican Primary today. For the incumbent in our local race, because she's for choice in education, and for the challenger in our national race, because the incumbent's been in there too long. I've got warm fuzzies for him because he was one of the House prosecutors in the Clinton impeachment trial...but what's he done for me lately? New blood, people.

Since the election was at the library, I grabbed Jim Butcher's Furies of Calderon book and the first season of "Babylon 5." It's been far too long since I've been to the library. I've gotten into the habit of just buying books, rather than borrowing them.

Writing? What is this writing of which you speak?

Politicians are like diapers. They both need changing regularly and for the same reason.

I'd noticed the plethora of elections signs everywhere when I pulled into the state last night! Plus, that's nearly the only type of ad playing right now on either TV or radio (or maybe it just seems that way).

I really need to read those, one of these days... I've had them sitting on my Teetering Pile forever, but have simply never gotten around to them.

Ugh, I'll be glad when today's over and I can answer the phone in the vain hope that it'll be someone I actually want to talk to rather than a political ad or a survey.

Jim Butcher is a genius. I love his Dresden Files books and decided that it was time for me to pick up the first one in the Furies of Calderon series.

Hey... I thought I'd let you know why I haven't gotten back to you (aside from the fact that I realized I didn't know your email address :-p). The wedding kept me busy all day Wednesday, Thursday I was doing a bunch of running around here in Provo and up the canyon... and then Thursday night the food poisoning hit. I have never been this sick in my life... so, I didn't get a chance to visit anyone I know up in the Salt Lake Valley on this visit, and I'm still going to end up heading home a day or two late.

But I do get down here to visit a few times a year, so we'll just have to try for next time!

You have to let me know what you think of that book by Jim Butcher. I almost bought it two different times last week, but I just couldn't do it. I'm not a HUGE fantasy fan that reads everything out there, just some of it. But I AM a HUGE fan of Jim's so I've been debating....
