Anteaters are love, pure and simple. I'd settle for the kind in the top pic; the giant anteaters are a bit big for a housepet.

My father used to work at the local zoo, before they had nurseries, so we raised a baby lion or tiger or two but I never met with an anteater.

I wouldn't mind the size on the giants (between the lions and mastiffs in my life) but that guy on top is just the sweetest thing. The stuffed animal people need to produce a line based on him/her.

I wonder how old this one is--it didn't look newborn.

It was born in November. Interestingly, I have five plush giant anteaters, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a plushy lesser anteater. How...odd.

What is it about baby animals that tickle our cuteness gene? I've never really thought about anteaters as other than weird, but this is cuteness indeed. Looks like he/she could use a good manicure, though!
