Adventures in fridge shopping!
Apr. 5th, 2014 05:40 amSo, my POS fridge died its third ugly death since we bought it, and we finally said "this is ridiculous" and decided to buy a new one. After doing some research and narrowing it down to two models, we set out. One of the local furniture chains has been good to us, and there's a clearance center two minutes away, so the Hubby and I hied ourselves that direction...
Only to find that it's moved to their new location in Furniture Row by the IKEA down in Draper.
So that was awesome. The next closest one was down the freeway a ways, so we hit it...
They're moving too. They didn't have one of the ones we wanted to look at, and we really wanted to get eyes on the thing before committing to buy, so we got the address of another one that wasn't moving and headed back up the highway.
We decided to stop at Best Buy, because they also had the two we'd narrowed it down to, and (at this point) are very glad we did.
They had a floor model on sale for nearly half off--not the specific model we'd been looking at, but it actually fits our space better and is more efficient and has more features. It also has a stainless finish. WIN.
The only hiccup came when we found out they can't deliver it until Thursday. "But if you take it yourself, I can knock another $50 off the price." Well, shoot. I think we can manage, considering we got a gun safe that weighed twice as much down to the basement by ourselveswithout dying.
Of course, today is crammed full. The Hubby has a morning appointment to get the windshield replaced in the Durango, and we've got non-refundable tickets to Cap2 for an afternoon showing. So what he's going to do is go straight from the car place to Best Buy to pick the thing up, bring it home, garage it, and then we'll head to the theater for the movie. After that, we'll wrestle the thing inside and set it up.
That's the plan, anyway. A better plan might be to pick it up after the movie so we're not so crunched for time, but we'll discuss that when he gets up.
We were griping that "it don't ever go smooth" on the way to Best Buy, but apparently things have a way of working out. I just hope we don't kill ourselves getting it set up.
