Send off some subs yesterday.

And I never actually did. Someone smack me. I've got seven short stories languishing on my hard drive that really need to go out--and an eighth I think I should start sending to reprint markets. Three of them via snail mail. Which, ugh, but short of not subbing to major markets, what're you gonna do? And since I think these stories deserve to go to major markets, and be seen by lots and lots of people, you bet your ass I'm going to send them out.

It's just a matter of getting off my butt and, you know, doing it. They're not going to sub themselves...

So, yeah. Someone smack me.

NOT.

So, I decided to send off the BearFic to the next market on my list, mainly because it's a webform and I don't have to send them a cover letter or open my email account or do anything, you know, that resembles actual work.

*cue maniacal laughter*

Turns out that when I made the transition to the new laptop, the wrong version of that story got copied over. I didn't have the final version anywhere on my hard drive.

It took a good ten minutes to figure this out.

Did I panic? No, I did not. Because I am Wise in the Ways of Writing, I sent myself a backup copy in my email for offsite storage in case something awful happened.

Good thing.

I downloaded that, formatted it properly, and finallyfinallyomigodfinally, got that puppy subbed.

Six more to go. Three of them, I have to print out. I'm not sure I have the stamina for this.

So, I started printing out the ArtFic, to send to a Major East Coast Market.

For once, my printer is being somewhat civilized. Yay.

Then I look at my header. You know, the part that has my name, the title, and the page number on it.

And Word, in its wisdom, has decided that a document that is formatted entirely in Courier New, including the headers, should have the page numbers formatted in Times New Roman.

SO MUCH HATE FOR WORD RIGHT NOW. HATE HATE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE.

At least I only had eight pages printed out before I caught it.

And people wonder why writers drink.

That I really really hate the business side of writing right now?

Yeah, I started printing this crap out over an hour ago. I still have over twenty pages left to print in one document, two cover letters, and a cover page.

And then I'll have to stand in line for twenty minutes at the post office and pay cashy money to ship them off. This is not even counting the frustrations I'm going to encounter in making shipping labels, so I'm not going to bother doing that; handwritten envelopes FTW, man. Because I'm seriously not in the mood to mess with it.

Actual writing? What is this "actual writing" of which you speak?

EVERYTHING subbed.

Every single completed story I have is now OUT and looking for a home.

I think I just might be able to justify going to the midnight showing of "Watchmen" now that I've done that. I mean, I even edited the protag's name in the Abducted!Werewolf story and shipped it off. Not that it was difficult to do that; find and replace is my very good friend.

So. Anyway. They're all either OUT or SOLD. That's fourteen short stories written, four sold, and ten out looking for homes.

I am made ridiculously happy by this.

Also, I now have a dog in the American Idol hunt. GO, ANOOP!

And I'm so very glad Tatiana got the well-deserved boot. OMG DRAMA QUEEN AHOY. If she's made it into the top thirteen, I would have tuned completely out. SRS.

Also, we have at least one Utah girl in there. So, yay.

Sitting at the Megaplex, waiting for the midnight show of "Watchmen." Poaching their wireless.

Are you jealous?

Considering the fact that I subbed eight stories today (yes, even the DragonFic went off to a reprint market), I think I'm entitled. And considering the fact that I was afraid I wasn't going to get to see this at all...

I'm so very stoked right now. Behold the stokiness of my stokedness.

And thus I reclaim my geek cred. *nods firmly*

Now...I shall edit!
